I haven't made resort reservations in two years. Can you put the reservation on Master Card or Visa? If you can, when does the charge appear? Thanks in advance for your help. :)

I just put the deposit down on our room with my VISA over the phone. I didn't ask if I could pay the rest of the balance that way too, but it seems like you would be able to. Since I did it just yesterday on a Saturday I don't know yet when the charge will appear, but I can post again as soon as I see it.:)

I tried to make a payment over the phone with my Visa (debit card - I thought it would be faster than sending an actual check). They can't do it. They are only able to take one night's charge - essentially the deposit. After that, you either have to send a check or fill out that form on the back of the reservation confirmation.

I sent the check two weeks ago and they still haven't cashed it!!!! I wish they would just accept credit cards over the phone!!

Ohhh. Thanks for the info. That's strange that they will accept the deposit over the phone but not a payment for the rest of the balance.

You may want to check again about paying your balance over the phone by credit card. When I sent a fax authorizing using my husbands American Express for our April trips deposit, they said that I could just all when the time came to pay for the balance. I am going to do that about 2 weeks before the trip.

I always make phone payments via my credit card and have never had a problem. I have used VISA, AMEX and the Disney Credit Card. It's never been an issue with me or the CM. Oh, and the charge was posted against my credit card that day.

I'm so glad you brought this up! I was going to post this and just hadn't gotten around to it.

We called yesterday. I wanted to pay off our room balance. They asked WHY???!!!!! =) I explained that I want everything paid before we arrive next month. I think she thought I was weird.

Anyway, the CM was VERY nice and tried, but the computer would not let her do it! Weird!!!!
I'm just sending it in with the envelope we got with our initial reservation. How frustrating!

I called in the last month about a deposit for a stay at Coronado Springs and was told no credit card over the phone but AMEX and DISNEY CARD?????
So the CR couldn't take my deposit over the phone , Why?, I don't have an AMEX and they told me that my DISNEY CARD was VOID???????
I SAID WHAT ? Called Disney card and was told because I didn't use my DISNEY CARD
in the last 12 months THEY DROPPED ME, MEMEBER SINCE 1995, and I used the card for my last 3 trips with no benefits nor discounts from the card!!!!!!. Does Disney want loyal customers any more!!! Or should Bush and Universal receive Royalties?

was I supposed to pay for our whole stay prior to arriving?

Yes, those Disney credit card people could care less about you. I was having a major fit with my Visa card and refused to pay them until they fixed the problem. In the mean time, my Disney credit card, which I have paid on time each and every single month for YEARS, sent me a letter stating I could not use my card after checking my credit report. They did not even want to know what my problem was so I sent them a nasty letter with the card cut up and told them what to do with it. Since then, I have been sending a check for my deposit and send checks monthly until my room is paid off. I usually take cash with me anyway. These companies think they can charge you outrageous interest rates and then treat you like that. Just be sure to send your deposit out the minute you get your lovely yellow confirmation and you shouldn't have any problem.:D

Unfortunately the Disney Credit Card isn't run by Disney. It is run by Mongram Credit Card Bank (who also run Sam's Club, Casual Corner, and a number of other store cards)...and they can care less about a good customer. They are in the business for a profit and it is unfortunate that the companies who name are on the cards do not seem to oversee them. Given that it is not Disney who actually owns the cards, there is little in the way of benefits to having it.

You can't simply "refuse to pay them until they fix the problem". You can IN WRITING dispute any errors, but you are still responsible for making payments on the non-disputed portion of the balance. I have disputed charges like this several times. It will not negatively affect your credit if you do it the way you are required to.

The "directions" to dispute a charge are on the back of your statement. If you don't follow these directions it will negatively affect your credit. All lenders run repeat credit reports now and then on all customers. It is common practice to end a relationship with someone who's credit has been adverse recently. If you hold other cards, it's possible that they will also take this action against you in the future. It's one of the few ways they have to protect themselves against getting burned by a consumer who's financial health has taken a downward turn.

If you had disputed rather than just not paid, it would have shown as a dispute and no one would take negative action against you. On the credit report you can be reported as: Paying as agreed, in dispute, paid and closed, delinquent (late), in collection or judgement. The first three are not actionable. The last three are not good to see on a credit report.

Ducklite, thank you for your full report on how to dispute on a credit card. I followed all the directions perfectly but somehow they still do not have any idea what they are doing. I am tired of being treated like a nobody with them. I carry no balances and the portion I did not pay was the disputed one. So, even if you follow the rules they find a way to screw it up. Now it's up to me to fix that portion of my credit report and no one seems to listen or care. Cash basis is the only way to go these days. If enough people stop paying those incredibly high interest rates, things would change. Unfortunately, that will not happen with more than 50% of the country in debt. I am still going to Disney every chance I get, I just pay cash is all......:D

Maybe I've misunderstood this thread.. but I paid deposit with credit.. and paid the entire thing with credit. So...? Nobody told me I couldn't... and I did.

The reason that I asked the original question was, in the past Disney would only accept the Disney charge card or American Express. Which, I must admit, irritated me just a little. What difference does it make? If I pay with another major credit card, they still have their money. I would be willing to say, you can still only use the Disney charge card or American Express. So, when I'm ready, I'll send a check. :(

I made my original reservation in Feb. with my Visa card and was charged the one night's deposit and called back later to add another room and was again charged one night's deposit for the second room but the CM was unable to add the remainder of the trip at that time. When we checked in I paid cash and my brother paid for his room with his Visa w/o any problems.
