Resort Refurbishment Worries

Hi all - I have a trip planned for late September at Coronado Springs. I have read some rumors that there will be room renovations beginning in July. Has anyone stayed at a resort while these went on? Most recently at CBR it seems that they will being the same thing that happened there. Did you notice much of the work being done? Did it put a damper on your vacation?

I have stayed at a WDW resort 3 times during a room refurb and 2 of the times I didn't even know it until I did the survey while waiting for ME and they specifically asked if the room refurb was a distraction. The other time I just happened to notice a worker with a hard hat on and made a comment to a CM walking the same direction I was and they told me there was a room refurb going on. My cousin was at CBR during the latest refurb and it didn't bother her in the least. Disney usually does a good job of keeping guests away from the work.

Now major work like at the Poly the last 6-8 months is a different story.

We were at POR when they were working on the lobby. It didn't bother us at all. There were wall put up but no big deal. We never stayed there before that trip so I really didn't know what I was missing. The YC on our last trip was also having some renovations, honestly we never saw anything. I think it really depends on what they are doing and where. If the main pool is down for refurb, we are big swimmers then that would be a deal breaker. If they are working on random rooms, disney has a way of not making it an issue for their guest. If it bothers you in anyway let the front desk, by going down there (don't call from the room you are directed to a call center off property)and let the staff know your concerns, they will do their best to help u.

First, room renovations are done in a way to be as non-disruptive as possible. If you are right by a building being worked on you may see some supplies, workers but honestly it won't affect your stay or your sleep. I've stayed during a few and unless you walked by you wouldn't have even known.

Second, CSR rehab rumors have posted since last summer with dates constantly moving it back. They did do some plumbing and installation of new water heaters in the last year. In January they filed a permit to pull a few rooms out of inventory to rehab them. The prediction is they are testing the rooms for future rehab. I think we all saw those pics of the test rehab rooms at CBR and the actual rehab happened much much later. Haven't see a permit for rehab on a wider scale. Not to say they won't decide to do one but it shouldn't affect your stay. Room rehabs are fairly quiet projects and not visually an issue like exterior renovations to pools etc.

I think the people that stayed at CBR last year would tell you it was barely noticeable and had zero impact on their stay. Keep in mind that room refurb is much different than reconstructing the entire resort like they are doing at the Poly.

They will do it one building at a time and that building will be closed.
