Can you use your refillable mug from one resort to another? We will be at AKL first then over to BWVs.....can I use the one from AKL to get the discounted refills at BWV or do I need to purchase another one from BWV directly? Thanks!

You can't use a refillable mug from one resort at another. You will need to buy one from each resort. This is a very heated subject here on the DIS!

Sorry -- the mugs are only good for the resort you bought them from. Also, there has been much debate over whether the mugs are good only for the visit you purchased them during or forever. It seems some people are told by CM's that the mugs are good "forever", but the official word from Disney is that they are meant for only the trip you bought them during.

They make a nice souvenir and easily pay for themselves if you drink coffee, tea, cocoa or soda at the resort.

Having just come back from a vacation at the Boardwalk, I can tell you that the Bakery there, that does give free refills for Boardwalk mugs, had a sign up that said refills of other mugs were only $.89.

This is cheaper than the $1.99 or $2.29 they charge for regular and large size drinks, so bring your mugs!

Unless something has changed since November 02....you CAN use your mugs at other resorts.

Since we purchased mugs from ASMu back in 97...we have Coronado mugs, DL mugs, PO mugs and POR mugs....

Every year we go we always bring mugs from previous trips. In November I used a mug from CS that was purchased in 98. No problem.

So I tend to disagree that you CAN'T use them. Now, if you go to a CM and say.."I have an old mug, can I use it?"...I think they will say NO to get you to buy a new one.

I have NEVER been confronted while using an old mug. Trust me, we have 12 of them.

We even bring old mugs for our family members who meet us there. NO PROBLEM.

Like I said above...UNLESS something has changed since November 02. Then I am wrong.

Last year the big topic was "bar codes" on the mugs. I have not heard any talk of bar codes recently.

Your wrong.

You can't use them at other resorts. You are only supposed to use them for the length of your stay.

Open your eyes and read the signs at the food courts on your next trip.

Why don't they stop you? Becuase it's Disney's way to be non-confrontational. It's the same reason that they don't stop people from filling their styrofoam cups they brought from home.

Whaoooo...ducklite ..EASY ...

First of all...my eyes are WIDE OPEN...

Second of all...I have NEVER been approached by a CM telling me "you cannot use them".

AND until a CM does tell me I cannot use them...I WILL continue to use them .

Third of all....WE do not show up at a resort with styrofoam cups or mugs from 7-eleven.

Should they say something to those people..YES.
Do they NO.

and its not my place or anyone elses place to say something.

I use the old mugs and I will continue to use the old mugs until a CM tells me otherwise.

If you or anyone else keeps buying mugs everytime you visit...whose fault is that ?

The current POR mugs are green & white. Tell me how are they going to know when I purchased that mug ?

And by the way...last year DW had an old red & white DL mug from 2000. The handle broke off and they replaced it for FREE with a new current green & white mug.

Bet you did not know that if your mug breaks they replace for FREE did you ?????????

Do people really do this? How bizzare!

Yes--I definitely saw it happening at All Star Sports. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor at the rudeness...absolute gall of these people.

So Kinggoffy--Even thought he signs state that the mugs are good for the length of stay at that resort only, until someone tells you verbally otherwise you're going to continue to refill and not pay attention to the signs?

How is that different from taking something from a store without paying where you've bought something in that store before, because no one told you you weren't allowed to?

I actually (in a sick sense) have more respect for those people. They are not trying to pretend that it's allowed or that they didn't see the signs restricting the refillable mugs to your present stay. They are just taking advantage of lax rules enforcement.

The signs are clear enough, not sure why some people seem to require a CM to explain it.

Ducklite...

First of all..you have your opinion and I have MINE.
If you are stating I am a thief because I bring old mugs...
A ) who are you to judge me...and
B ) your opinion of what I do really does not matter.

IT IS MY OPINION OF REFILLABLE MUGS......THATS IT.
NOT an opinion of someones character. .

To all of you..listen to Ducklite and BUY new mugs. BECAUSE the sign says.."only good for length of stay

BUT...truthfully, how many of you bring old mugs, use them, and have NEVER been approached.

Ducklite ...I hope you are ready to be shocked. You will find out, there are a whole bunch of us who use the old mugs.

Last question Ducklite....What is your opinion of people who purposely book a resort knowing it is going to be shut down for renovations for the sole purpose of getting a free upgrade or paying $10-$30 more at a deluxe. Do you have something against those people too ?

My opinoin...MORE POWER to them.

AMEN !!!!!!!!!

AMEN !!!!!!!!!

The sign says free refills are only good for your stay. You see the sign but you think the rule doesn't apply to you unless a CM confronts you. OF COURSE IT SPEAKS OF YOUR CHARACTER. Not the worse thing in the world but it does speak of your character. I have more respect with the people bringing their 7-11 mugs, not trying to pretend it's OK.

If Disney is accepting reservations at a resort then it's ok to make the reservation. The fact that reservations are being accepted would cause me to discount rumors about the resort closing. Disney doesn't have to do any more than transfer your reservation to a similar resort.

As far as I am concerned...I am done with this topic.
Blown way out of line. When a topic gets to the point of peoples character, I do not judge anyone unless I know them .

And the last time I checked. I do not know Lewisc or Ducklite.

I have better things to do.

Hmm..., I guess I had my eyes closed recently at the AKL when I purchased our mugs- I didn't see a sign stating they were good only for that length of stay anywhere. Apparently neither did all the people I saw refilling various other resort mugs at the Mara. The signs I did see where the mugs were on display only listed the price and free refills. I had 1 mug from CBR, that my DH used for coffee & iced tea so the new ones didn't become stained and the kids used the new ones for sodas(and yes I asked a CM if it was ok before we did it, and were told that they were good for return visits.) IMO, the word of an employee holds more weight than the opinions of another guest.:D

Jeffemy

Thank you for confirming what I have been arguing about.

Beware..your character is going to be judged.

And I agree, the opinions of CM's mean alot more than opinions of others.

Hopefully you had a good trip.

The signs were up on our stay at the WL in February. But, then again I always keep right when I come upon a "Keep Right" sign while driving, even if there is no police officer there.;)
