Looking at different resorts for a stay in September with our 2 year old. Can anyone give recommendations on whether being close to Magic Kingdom/monorail is worth the points vs. seeing the animals at Animal Kingdom?

Depends on what parks you will be spending the most amount of time.

Are you going to have a car or are you going to rely on Disney transportation?

We have stayed at BLT and AKL with our DD4 and either one will work.

:welcome: to disboards.

Resorts tend to come down to personal preference. Just like some like vanilla ice cream, others prefer rocky road.

We enjoy both BLT and AKV, but for different reasons.

We enjoy AKV for the animals and feeling like we have left the parks when we are at the resort.
We enjoy BLT for the convenience to MK, the monorail, and the easy access to Poly, GF, WL, and FW.

i love AKV but it's a long way to the MK for little ones.

if you're spending most days at the MK, i'd vote VWL or BLT.

just returned from a trip with DD2 and stayed on the monorail at the Poly, and I have to say, with a child that age, it was definitely nice to be that close to the room when we were at MK. Using the buses from AK would add at least an hour onto your total day in roundtrip travel, more if you go back for naps, and half of that longer voyage will take place when your little one is already spent.

It ultimately comes down to what is most important to you, of course, but we plan to stay at BLT while our daughter is still very young. With that said, I can totally see the draw of having animals outside of your room for a small child as well, and for that reason, we might split our stay between the two and do a couple of days at AKV for the days that we plan to be over there. When you're spending a lot of time at MK, though, it's tough to pass up that convenient location with a child that age, IMO.

With a two year old...

BLT is nice, because you can load up the stroller, and in 10 minutes, you can walk to MK.

BCV is nice, because the pool (storm-along-bay) is great. The sand bottom pool is perfect for a 2 year old.

Other than those suggestions, pick the place that will work for you.

We actually enjoyed the bus/boat rides to and from the parks. It's a little break time or for our two year old it was the perfect car ride to get them to sleep.
