Hello!

I was hoping to get some resort advice. This is the first time my husband and I will be staying in a deluxe. Which deluxe would you recommend for a couple?

Thank you!

What a fun choice to make! The best thing about Disney Deluxe resorts is that odds are there is one that fits you perfectly! Do you like to be able to walk to Epcot and Hollywood Studios? I'd recommend Boardwalk Inn - you can even request a view of Epcot where you can see the Eifel Tower - so romantic!

Would you prefer to be on the monorail? Then pick your theme - Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Contemporary are all great choices. Do you prefer the look of a lodge? Do you like geysers or animals? WL and you are a short boat ride from MK, AKL and you have your own savannah.

Have fun!

I'm not to picky about location. I was hoping to focus more on the resort itself. Monorail line would be nice but certainly isn't a must!

They are all really nice! I don't think you can go wrong! Personal favorites are Wilderness, Animal and Beach.

Actually, I really like AKL and here's why:
1. It's a world apart. If you can't go to Africa, this is such a cool place to just be.
2. Awesome food! Even the QS is excellent.
3. The Lounge has a great vibe.

so say what you want in a resort

great pool - BC/YC
also - AKV

seeing animals - AKL/AKV -

having a great view of the MK - BLT, CR, Polyn

lots of restaurants - any Epcot or MK - they all have access to each other thru monorail (Mk or boat) -- walking or boating Epcot resorts.

lots of activities - CR, BLT, FW, WL, VWL

lots of room - any of the DVC resorts - BLT, BCV, AKV, PV, VGF, SSR, OKW, BWV,VWL - if you can afford a 1-bedroom.
otherwise - CR or Polyn have the biggest rooms besides the DVC resorts.

shopping - the SSR you can walk to DD (can also from OKW)

what do you want in a resort?

forgot for night life - might go with BW - Disney is making it harder to enjoy the night life there by not allowing parking. oh second though go with bc - you can easily walk over to the bw area (or dolphin or swam)

We had a great time at the AKL a few weeks ago ... we spent a lot of time there ... nothing quite like having dinner on your balcony watching the animals roam around.

The Giraffes even hung around at night

Thanks for the input guys! I was a bit nervous about AKL because it's so far away from everything. It sure looks gorgeous!

I would pick Yacht Club or something on the Boardwalk if it were just me and my Guy. We like to walk to Epcot and without our kids we would be able to get dinner and some drinks in a more laid back way. Epcot and Boardwalk area have a nice mix of dining and entertainment. Just my two cents:wave:

Beach Club/Yacht Club would be a good choice for a couple...especially if you like to stroll around World Showcase at night like we do. It's nice to have a five minute walk back to Beach Club. I also think Wilderness Lodge is a good choice. It has a romantic atmosphere.

For a couples trip I would go with BWI or YC. AKL is nice, we really enjoyed it but it's far away from everything. BWI has great night life. Walk on the boardwalk or sit on the balcony with a drink ppl watching. yC is the best of BW but with a better pool and it's the first stop/ pick up for the buses.

I know everyone says its so far away, but I never found it to be so. The MK bus ride is a bit long, but I never felt it took a noticeably longer time than anywhere else. We like BC and walking to EPCOT AND DHS, but you're not close to MK or AKL.

AKL is a bit out there but if you mostly just want to enjoy a resort and park proximity is not a high priority it's very relaxing IMO.
We almost always do split stays and enjoy staying close to the parks that we are visiting during that part of the trip to minimize transportation issues. For Epcot/DHS, BC is our favorite, for MK, WL is our Favorite.

I've never stayed at an Epcot resort but most people recommend the Epcot area resorts for couples. I think I would choose the Polynesian because...

1. You can get on a direct monorail to MK AND Epcot (with 5 min walk to TTC). If spending equal time at MK and Epcot, this might be better than just being close to Epcot.
2. Castle views and Wishes from resort beach and maybe room
3. Trader Sams/ Tambu Lounge for having drinks
4. Tropical, lush, laid-back atmosphere
5. Close to GF, MK, and CR for other dining
6. Ohana Dinner
7. Kona Breakfast (Tonga Toast)
8. Captain Cooks for easy quick service (Epcot resorts don't look so easy to find quick service)
9. Dole Whips
10. Boat rentals from resort
11. Feeling like your in the middle of the magic :)

I would love to stay at an Epcot resort but I'm unsure about sharing a bus with all of the other Epcot resorts. Is sharing a bus with that many resorts as bad as I've been told it is?

That sounds like a pretty darn good list of reasons for the Poly!

The Yacht Club and Beach Club share the bus to MK, AK and Downtown Disney. The BWI shares with Swan and Dolphin. There isn't a bus for Epcot or DHS, there is a boat or you can walk. So overall, the bus situation at an Epcot resort is pretty good. :)
