If the "season" changes during your stay does your rate change or does it stay what it was on day 1?

...we are planning to arrive on 4/16, last day of peak season...regular season starts the next day on 4/17...

will our rates be peak one night and reg the rest or peak the whole time...we could definatelty change to arrive on the 17 th !!!

I'm not possitive, but I think your rate is determined by the rate on the day that you check in. I got the postcard rate for Thanksgiving week for the whole week because we are checking in on the Saturday before, you cannot use the postcard rate starting on Tues. or Wed. I have read here before about people making 2 ressies, sometimes even at the same hotel. This way you pay the peak rate only until the new rates kicks in. You could try both ways online or call and check the difference. Hope this helped.

You need to make 2 resies. You have to check out after the first day, then check back in. Most times they will let you stay in the same room.

They definately charge you the rate of your first night for the entire stay.

The best strategy is as tigersgal19 suggested. Make 2 reservations to get the better rate for the later nights. Usually they are pretty good at letting you stay in the same room. When you make the second reservation, have the agent note that it is a continuing reservation, including the first reservation number. The room assigner will try to assign you the same room for the second reservation.

Just a warning that you may not be able to get the lower rate even if you make 2 reservations.

We will be at the Contemporary from April 14-23. We wanted our second reservation to start on the 17th - first day of lower rates. Disney said no availability for standard view rooms from the 17th to the 23rd. But they did have availability from the 14th to the 19th and then the 19th to the 23rd. So for now we are looking at the higher rate for the 17th and 18th. It makes no sense to me. It was the only way we could book a standrd view room though. Our agent at DU couldn't get it switched either. I'm just hoping for a good code, so it won't be as big of a deal in the end.

I also encountered this when booking my upcoming trip. Oct 30 is still reg. season the 31st is value. So...

I booked YC at the reg. rate for 2 nights (Got 2 code discounts) Oct 29 and Oct 30. We are then switching to WL for 7 nights at value season rates. I am not really looking forward to switching resorts, but this way we get to experience 2 resorts we have never tried before.
