We are going to buy via resale, and our favorite park and where we spend most of our time is Epcot. The idea of walking to Epcot from BCV is awesome but we have never had the chance to check out any of these out while we were at Disney. Any pro or cons to either of these resorts?

Thanks

I would pick BCV for the pool, the pool, the pool! Also, although room decor doesn't really matter *that* much, I love the beachy feel of the resort - - I think it's beautiful.

However, one "pro" for the BWV is that you have more choices in terms of "views" and, from a quick read of the points charts, you can get a "standard" view at BWV for about 20-30 points less than the BCV rooms. That is certainly a consideration while you are making your decision.

Either way, good luck!! :goodvibes

Thanks for the quick reply.

Add on points question, say I buy 150 at BWV and later buy 100 at BLT will that mean my home resort is both and I can book 11 months out on both?

You can book 11 months out with the points at that resort. You can not combine the points until 7 months out.

You can use your 150 points at BWV to book at 11 months and your 100 points at BLT to book at 11 months but you cannot combine them to make 250 at 11 months. What some people do who own at two resorts is to bank/borrow points at one resort every other year. In your case, that would give you 300 points every other year at BWV and 200 points at BLT every other year - - certainly enough to take vacations every year if you alternate resorts.

The ability to book standard-view rooms at BWV is a huge reason to own there. Those rooms are great, and 10-20% "cheaper." For much of the year, you pretty much have to be an owner to get them.

BCV is very nice - I can see people liking it better than BWV, especially if you want to spend a lot of time at the pool. But from an ownership standpoint, you it's much easier to book BCV at the 7-month mark than to book a standard-view room at BWV.

Do you have young kids? We have stayed at both and love both, but we have young kids so we go with BCV. Easy walk to the boardwalk so you get best of both worlds. On an adult only trip I prefer BWV and you get the option of different views and cheaper points. Honestly you can't go wrong with either one but you have to detemine what is important to you and only you can make that call!

I agree with the PP's on many points. Have you seen the pool area at BCV...do an internet search for pics of Stormalong Bay. If you have kids, this may sway you as well as the quicker walk to Epcot. But if you don't have kids and don't care about pool, maybe a view overlooking the Boardwalk would be a bigger plus for you...it's a further walk to Epcot, but if you have patience and don't need to rush, it's a short boat trip from BWV to BCV to help with the walking. Good Luck

For pics go to allears.net they got some great pics of all the resorts. BCV might be a little closer to EPCOT but IMO it is pretty negligible and BWV is a little closer to DHS. Actually I find geting to the rooms at BCV a little annoying but with all that said we are trying to add on at BCV......love that place especially with 3 little ones.

we own at both, & greatly prefer BWVs.
we enjoy the variety of views (BW view is incredible :goodvibes), with lower points for standard views available (BCV's best "epcot view" includes a road & a glimpse of spaceship earth thru treetops).

while some love SAB, we find it too crowded & busy for our tastes. the BCVs are in general, just too noisy for us ("us" includes a huge range from 6yo children to 80yo grandparents). the BWV quiet pool really is quiet (unlike BCVs), with a great community hall to play games, do crafts, etc.

in our opinion, BWVs just feels more like a real "resort", a bit of heaven amid the hustle & bustle.:cloud9:

This is the main reason we bought at BWV. If BCV had standard view rooms too, it would have been a toss up because we love both resorts. But the "cheaper" rooms sold us on BWV and we haven't regretted that decision for a second!

Yes I have a 6 DS and 12 DD.

Looks like I'm leaning towards BWV..

Thanks for all the great input!

Oh one more question before I leave for the Phils game :cool1:

How hard is it to book a standard room at BWV? I know it's very limited.

I just booked our first standard view room at BWV this morning, calling at 8 months out. We were looking at two different weeks - the first two full weeks in January. SV was not available for 2 or 3 of the nights the first week we were considering, but it was available for all six nights we wanted the other week.

We went through the same decision process you did last year. We knew we wanted an Epcot resort, but we weren't sure if we preferred BCV or BWV. We'd stayed at both the BC and the BWI before, but never on the DVC side. For us, it was sort of a toss up. I slightly prefer BC; DH and DM slightly prefer BW. I like SAB, I really hate the evil clown pool. We ended up buying BWV because although it is a slightly longer walk to Epcot, it is definitely an easier walk to DHS. And we figured we did want the option of going for either Boardwalk view or standard view, and we were more likely to get them if we booked before the 7 month window.

I think we'd have been happy owning at either; there were no bad choices here. We're actually staying at both on our trip starting at the end of this week, and this is a trip we booked only just over a month ago.

Its about 20% of the resort - and about 20% of the resort is Boardwalk View. And the answer is "it depends" - Standard View Studios for the Food and Wine or the first few weeks in December - book eleven months out. Standard view one bedrooms MIGHT still be around for September or May five months out.

I would urge you to stay at one or both of these resorts before buying. My wife and I stayed at the BWV as CRO customers shortly after it opened. We booked a studio and were upgraded to a 1BR. We loved it.

Several years later I decided I wanted to buy 50 BCV points resale. Five years ago that was not impossible. While I had my order in I visited BCV with my children and realized I didn't like it nearly as much as BWV. While I was onsite, Jason from The Timeshare Store called me and said he had a 50-point contract at BWV. After staying at both resorts, I knew Boardwalk was where I wanted to be. I love the BCV location, but I almost found the pool to be a detriment. I didn't hate the place....I'll go back....It's just not my favorite.

Just spend a couple of nights at one resort or the other and spend both nights out on the boardwalk or on the beach doing things. You will get an idea of which resort you like the best.

You can't go wrong at either one. We own at BWV but have stayed at BCV. We loved the pool at BCV, but prefer the location of BWV and the choice of views.

A benefit of BCV is the ability to park relatively close to your room. At BWV, you have long corridors with a long walk to the parking area. However, I think staying at either of these resorts makes going without a car quite easy since it is walking distance to 2 parks.

We first bought BWV because of the attraction of the lower points standard view rooms. We were able to book a few short stays at BCV using those BWV points, but as our DGC came on the scene we knew we needed dedicated two bedrooms with 2 queens in the second bedroom, and so, we bought BCV points because there aren't as many of those specific types of rooms.

BWV has NO dedicated 2 bedrooms, and as adults, that didn't bother us, but with the DGC we realized that we did want the safety of knowing there wasn't an exit from the second bedroom.

Now, SAB is great! However until the 3 DGC get older, when only the two parents are with them, they will pool hop over to BWV because it's just easier to keep track of the kids, now ages 4, 5 and 6 over there.

I agree that, if possible, it would be a great idea to stay at each resort before you make a decision.

We own at VWL and love it. We stayed at BCV a couple of years ago and enjoyed our stay, but was not “wowed” by the resort. SAB was nice, but sooo big. However, we agreed that owning at VWL & BCV (maybe sometime in the future) would be the best of all possible worlds due to location. Didn’t give BWV a second thought because it didn’t seem to appeal to us.

This past February, we stayed in a 1 bdrm SV at BWV, mainly for easy access to DHS for ESPN the Weekend. Well we LOVED it! Who knew? So much so that we are currently waiting on ROFR from Disney on a resale add on!

Best of luck. Both are great resorts. You have to do what works best for you. :)

We went through the same decision-making process. We visited both on our last trip, but couldn't stay there (though I've stayed at the BC before). I slightly preferred BCV, DH preferred BWV. Stormalong Bay was a draw at BCV, but we like to vacation in December and we usually don't use the pool then. We thought the interior of BWV was beautiful. We really looked at the pros and cons of each, down to parking and playgrounds. We ended up choosing BWV for the option of booking those standard view rooms, and because the resale prices were a little better. All things being equal, the ability to save money and stretch our points won for us.
