Resort prices 2008

wow is it just me or are the prices very high for 2008 ?

Defintely! My package is at $3500- that's with no park hopping- I need a code to bring my price down!

i know it was close to 900.00 just for 3 nights at wilderness lodge...

The annual prices increases are what prompted us to finally take the plunge and buy into the DVC this past year! Just wish we'd done it sooner as the points keep going up too!! But when we started pricing a trip for this past summer to go back to the AKL our jaws dropped (compared to what we paid several years ago - I think we went the year it opened). I think this year when I priced it the "room only" was as much as what we paid for our whole package including a "Deluxe Savanna View", park tickets and airfare last time!! Anyway, we realized we were being priced out of Disney & we knew we had to do something and DVC fit the bill!! (Now I want more points! )

Our room at the Wilderness Lodge only went up $10.00 per night. I didn't think that was too bad.

Its not just you. The mods and values are still reasonable, but the deluxe prices are laughable at many times of the year.

i totally agree..... yet those deluxes are still popular...

They sure are and as long as they stay full, the prices arent going to come back down, for "middle class" folks like me

I know that just by talking to collegues and friends around me.......
they would love to try places like BC/YC and poly, Boardwalk...

but cannot justify the higher costs...
I can't say as I have not priced these things to a detail,
but one friend I know (with 5 in their travel party) keep going back
to POR though she would love to stay in one of the deluxes..
because after pricing the comparing ... POR was half the price compared to the
cost of staying at the YC...(i think that was the one she said!)

I have noticed the past few years that the deluxes are getting farther and farther out of our price range. But I also noticed the other day when I came across my 2001 Birnbaums that, in looking up the resort prices, the values during value season were $77. Now and next year they are $82, and that is not a bad increase for seven years. It is hard to find a decent room ANYWHERE for $82, and I am glad that Disney has kept an affordable option for those that need to travel on a budget.

To give you an idea of how truly nuts it is I'm paying $276 a night in January for the YC standard with a AAA discount! The same room Feb. '05 was $197 with the AP discount. In October '04 I had WL CY for ~$175 and Poly for ~$250 with a general code discount. This is nuts, but as someone else posted, as long as people will pay it. I'm just hoping that a general code comes out for my dates that is better than my AAA rate.
