We will be traveling in a few months w/ DD(22months) and I was wondering if we will be able to use the slide at our resort (SSR) w/ our DD on our lap? I can't seem to find info about this anywhere, but I am pretty sure I have seen people coming down resort slides w/ little ones on their lap... Thanks for any info!

We did at POFQ when my son was 2 1/2. He didn't like it though. He wore arm floaties in the big pool and played to his heart's contant in the kid pool. We brought pool toys with us - his favorite that would fit in our suitcase.

It is up to the discretion of the lifeguard. I know at SAB they will not allow it .

From all our pool watchings.......WL, Poly and Y&B, not allowed. You can stand off to the side of slide exit to catch your child but no double riding. We've seen the lifeguard scold many for this practice.

I *think* it depends on whether the slide is covered at any point (that is, that it is a fully enclosed tube) or whether it is all open (just the slide base with nothing over your head). When it is a fully enclosed tube, they cannot (should not) allow doubling up because it could be dangerous (not enough clearance to go through the tube portion safely).

I also think that if it is a steep slide, it would be very possible for a young child's foot, for example, to get stuck underneath a parent's leg or to catch at the side of the slide, causing injury to the child. Bottom line is that it would be a safety issue for the smaller rider.

The LG's have never allowed it any any of our resorts. They said it was for safety.

We just stayed at the SSR last week. In the main pool along with the big slide is a little slide. My daughter just turned 3 so slightly older than your child but maybe they could go down that alone. One parent to put them on and one in the pool to catch. Good luck. Have a great trip.:cool1:

From my own experiences, they do not allow it at POR, SAB, the Contemporary, or the Poly. Plus they do not allow you to stand right at the bottom of where the slide empties out into the pool. Your child must be able to swim a little to the side, where you can wait for them.

Can they wear flotation devices while going down the slide?

Yes, arm floaties are definitely fine....not sure about the inner tube style ones though. They also allow one parent to go to the top of the slide while another person waits at the bottom for the child. My DS was leary about going up there by himself, so I just went down after him at POR.
