If we're staying off-site but want to dine at a WDW resort restaurant do we have to pay for parking or not? Thanks!

They will give you a parking pass, 3 hours to eat and enjoy resort..no fee. You can valet if you want..then you have to pay and tip of course.

What if you're staying at a Disney resort? There are a few times we eat at a resort (not the one at which we're staying), go to a park, then come back to that resort for another meal. Can we leave our car (either self parked or valet parked) at that resort for the day?

Even if you are staying onsite you get a 3 hr pass when parking at a different resort.

You'll need to park your car elsewhere if you want to go to a park all day. That's not what resort parking is for.

They will certainly give you a 3 hour pass when you enter in the morning to prevent people from doing what you want to do.

Although that would be really convienient, resort parking for park access has been abused to the point where you can only get the three hour pass. The lots have filled with non-resort guests, and then the resort guests show up for their afternoon rest - and can't find parking!

If you valet, there is no time limit. So if its really convienient, valet.

Unfortuneatly, as mentioned, this is exactly why they now give out passes for only 3hr parking. All the resorts on the monorail line and that are walkable to the parks (such as Y&B clubs) also have signs at the guard gates that say "we regret that we cannot provide parking for our theme parks".

Abuse of the resort parking is also specifically the reason that valet parking is no longer free. If you notice, 2 or 3 yrs ago when they began truely realizing that this is a problem, they began charging to valet park $6.00 per day ~ eactly the same fee as to park at the parks. It really is a bummer too, because now it's not worth it to valet park if just going for a nice dinner at the resorts. At least not to us. By the time you get done tipping for just a few hrs for dinner, we'll anyway, you get the picture.:(
