Resort parking

I posted in the BW thread, no response, but I figure it should be the same at any resort.
My in laws (locals) will be visiting us one day at the BWV. I have read reports that the BW parking lot is quite large and can be a long walk to the lobby.
My question is this, if they are unable to find a close parking spot, and all of the closer handicap spots are taken - can I give them one of our old magic bands to get thru the gate and use to pay for valet parking?
We have never driven, so I don’t know how you pay for valet, and we would like to pay this for them. Would the band just charge the fee to my villa? They would not be using the band for anything else.

There is no charge for daytime parking (except valet). The problem is so many people try to park at the Boardwalk lot to go into the theme parks, so the guards there are careful about who they let through.

Do they have a handicap plate or tag? If they do, valet is free.

If they use the automated gate then they could just tap the MB to enter the resort. If they stop at the Guard gate, they can just give your name and room and state that they are visiting you to access the drive way.

The valet parking fee is normally paid when you pickup the vehicle at the Valet counter at the Portico for day guests. If they have a HC plate or Hang tag, valet parking should be complementary. Just have them provide your name / room number to the valet this will insure their access even if the resort parking lot is full to day guests. The Boardwalk parking lot is often very busy due to conventions, weddings and other guest visiting the resort.

As always double check your folio before you checkout to make sure that you were not charged for any parking fees. It does happen sometimes but is very easy to get this type of error correct by stopping by the DVC desk in the lobby.

A old magic band won’t open the gate unless you use it to unlock your current room. Learn this during my last trip. Tried to use a old band at AKL instead of taking off the one on my wrist. Then the guard came over and told me that you had to use band to open room door before it works for gate.

Ok thank you! They have handicap tags, so I will provide them with our room number and tell them to valet. We will Be greeting them upon their arrival outside, and we will walk out with them when they go to retrieve their car to make sure everything’s ok. Much appreciated!!!
