Resort Parking

Can somebody answer or link me to the appropriate thread: just to verify, if you are staying at Disney resort, and have a valid resort parking pass, this will allow you to park at any Disney resort hotel to eat, shop, look around, etc.

I dont believe you can park at any resort - the parking pass for the resort your staying is for that resort not all resorts.

If it's not a deluxe you shouldn't have an issue. During peak times like holidays they may not let you park at monorail resorts or during festivals at the epcot area resorts.

I think I've seen somewhere in my WDW websites researching that (if you're staying at a deluxe resort) once you pay for parking for the day, you can park at any other resort's parking lots without having to pay for the day again. But my eyes have been seeing so many questions with so many answers that I'm probably mistaken. I think it's a question that best answered by someone directly connected to Disney itself.

You only pay for parking at your own resort.

You may be able to park at other resorts for up to 3 hours to dine, look around, etc. However, during certain times of the year, the lots may be very full and you may be turned away at the gate (this is particularly true at the deluxe resorts). Unfortunately, you won’t know for sure until you try it. You can usually valet at the deluxe resorts, however, even if they’re not allowing self-parking.

Oh, and don’t ever count on a Disney phone CM to have correct information.

At Ft. Wilderness the campground, they have been restricting parking to guests only, because of the construction going on.

One you pay your resort parking fee, you are allowed to visit up to three hours to visit another resort. There are times when you will be turned away at the security gate. It seems to be occurring at the deluxe resorts.

This is not true. Paying your resort parking fee does not entitle you to up to 3 hours of parking at other resorts so that you can “visit”. Being able to park at a resort that you are not staying at is always at the discretion of the gate attendant. Even guests who are not staying onsite can park in the resort lots if the gate attendant permits them to do so.

The nightly parking fee you pay at your resort entitles you to that resort, period. No others, as visitors to resorts don't pay, only guests staying there.

That is only at the parks and only if you are an off-site guest, since people who are staying at a Disney resort park for free at the four parks.

OK, let's do a mini-FAQ about parking at WDW:

1) If you are a registered guest of a Disney-owned resort and you park your car in your resort's self-parking lot overnight, you will be billed a parking fee for each night the car is parked there.

2) The fact that you are a Disney Resort guest gives you NO special self-parking privileges at any other resort. Generally, the resorts are fine with letting anyone, resort guest or not, use the self-parking lots to enjoy the resort's restaurants and recreational facilities, but you are expected to take your car with you when you leave the resort - no parking in the resort lot and heading off to the theme parks. This use of self-parking at other resorts may be restricted during busy times.

3) Some resorts (mostly deluxe) offer valet parking. There is a daily charge for this service and you will only be charged once per day, even if you move on to another resort and use valet parking there.

4) All registered guests of Disney-owned resorts are entitled to free parking at Disney's theme parks.

While I'm sure there are some benefits to driving around WDW, paying for parking isn't one of them. Heck, I only drive two hours a day back and forth to work, and most of the time, I wish that most of the drivers I encounter would quickly find the nearest cliff... Believe it or not, I tend not to be a very patient driver.

My idea of vacation first and foremost is relaxation; not driving while on vacation is a definite plus for me. And not paying for parking leaves my money where it eventually ends up being...

Out of my wallet and back into the Disney coffers !!!

Not everyone who is a guest at Disney comes from far away. People who are FL residents or live within 10-12 hours drive most likely don't fly, they drive.
