Resort parking

Is parking at resorts free and do you have to have a reservation to be able to park at a resort?
I'm sure I saw people using the disney transport to the parks and the getting off at our hotel and into a car on our last trip.

Resort parking is free for hotel guests or those with a confirmed reservation for one of the restaurants. I've seen people park at DTD and get on to park buses too. There are some people that do what you're describing to save on the parking fee but it is a very risky business. I know Disney security can and do remove cars that are there too long.

In general, I don't think Disney really care too much if a resort guest parks at one of the monorail resorts for the day instead of at the parks because there is no parking fee dodging going on, but for off-site guests, they tend to take a harder line.

You haven't seen people park at DTD and get onto park buses because there aren't any buses to the parks from DTD! They only run to the resort hotels from DTD. This is to stop people parking there and avoiding paying to park at the theme parks. You can do it, but only if you then go via a hotel.

I'm sure they used to run from DTD but were stopped about 10 years ago because of people avoiding fees and overfilling the DTD car park too.

We often parked at the Poly and hopped on the monorail to MK last trip, we just said we were eating there to the lady on the gate
