I'm wondering what the current situation is with regard to resort parking fees when staying at the resort as a guest? On our last stay we were not charged anything for parking when I was expecting to be charged. At that time some people were being charged while others were not...I got lucky. So is everyone being charged now?

It's still hit and miss. Some guests with cars aren't being charged yet some guests without cars are. :confused3

Ok isn't the fee just for those staying at the resort not just visiting.

Will be down there with guests in my room who are taking Magical Express. I am driving. How will they know I have a car Vs. those on the room who are taking MDE?

The parking fee is for overnight parking and is still hit or miss. There is not charge for day visitors. The initial fee went in to effect for reservations made after March 21 2019 and again in June 18th this year.

For reservations made before June 18, 2019 for arrivals in 2019 or 2020:
  • Disney Value Resorts: $13 per night
  • Disney Moderate Resorts: $19 per night
  • Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $24 per night

For reservations made June 18, 2019 and thereafter for arrivals in 2020:
  • Disney Value Resorts: $15 per night
  • Disney Moderate Resorts: $20 per night
  • Disney Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts: $25 per night

We drive every year. We just got back from a 2 week stay at CBR and did not pay for parking. With that said, it was kind of by accident\great customer service.

To give the quick back story, on day two of our stay, I was checking our room charges. I had a question on the parking fee as it was broken down with tax per day and it looked odd to me. All I did was go down to the front desk and ask about it. Very nicely I might add. The person I talked with said if I was aware I would be charged for parking as this is the first "year" they are doing it. Before I even said anything further, she pretty much said she would remove the fee for our entire stay. I was shocked, and thanked her tremendously. Save me around $250 on our 13 night stay!

Thanks everyone! I think we are staying at WL (just waiting on the confirmation to come through) but we now have to decide if we will rent a car or not. There are several places offsite that we like to dine and my DD will want to shop. My feeling is that the savings of eating offsite will cover the cost of the car. I guess it's a wash....well, a wash depending on parking.

At the guard desk, you are asked for you identification. The guard will note if you arrive via taxi, uber, or personal car.

If you check in at the desk they will confirm.

there have been stories of people arriving via uber, and still being charged for parking. This is why you always check your bill.

I'd kind of like to rent a car for a day trip. We would not get back to the resort (POFQ) until late - after 2AM - and I'd return the car first thing in the morning - 9AM. I guess I'd be charged for those 6 hours...

Adds $20 to the cost of the rental and opens it up to charging for the entire stay.

Yes this is what I was wondering. Can you be charged for only one day?
I would call the resort in advance and tell them your plan. I suspect that if a note is made on your account in advance, you could avoid being charged for parking during the entire stay.

I would also talk to them face to face on my day of arrival to ensure your intentions are clear and you will be able to get the name off the name tag of the person you talked to.

Finally, I would drop by when the car is gone and tell them that.....once again getting a name off the name tag.

If for any reason you still get charged for the whole thing and can't get it resolved while in Florida, go home and send an email to WDW. It should be handled.

I think it's pointless to call. At that point, there's no proof you are keeping the car for a single night. I would mention it when you check in, then go back with the rental receipt as proof.

Also unless something has changed, calling and asking for even the front desk gets you to a call center.
