Resort parking before check in question

We are renting a car this trip and were wondering if we have to check with the parking attendant when we first arrive or can we scan our bands to enter the parking area?

If you did online check-in your bands should activate the gate. If not, pull up to the main entrance/lobby area and someone from your party can go inside and check-in. Once checked-in your MB will open the gate.

We always stop at the guard shack when we first arrive because most of the resorts we stay at issue a parking pass.

We just came back from the Poly. When we entered the resort to check-in, the parking attendant gave us a parking pass and told us to use the unmanned gate from then on. We drove to Epcot for morning EMH after checking in, while our room was being readied. Upon returning, our magic bands would not work to open the gate after check-in. The now different parking attendant told us that the bands will not work to open the gate until you have used your band to open your door. He said it is a detail that is often left out when talking to the guests. Sure enough - after we went to the room, they worked at the gates with no problems from then on in.

Ahh thank you everyone! That clears it up for me. Probably a good idea to get a parking pass too!
