Resort options to "pre-pay" meals...I need your ideas

We are going to WDW with a group of 9 (my parents, BIL/SIL, DH, myself & our 3 kids).

We have decided against the DDP....at $55.59 per day per adult it's just not a good value for the restaurants we've chosen & our eating habits.

We are concerned that my Dad will try to insist on paying for all meals while we are there, and we'd like to avoid the "check dance" at each meal. My brother and I have decided to each chip in a predetermined amount that should cover the table service meals we have planned.

So....what's the best way to do this when we check-in?

Can we buy a Disney gift card at the resort loaded with money from 2 separate credit cards?

Can one of us make a "payment" to the others' room charge?

What would make the most sense? Thanks DISers!

I always charge everything back to the room so I don't have to carry anything but my room card. Depending on what resort level you are staying determines the amount you can charge to the room before your credit card is charged. You can stop by the front desk at any time to pay via any method you choose.

You can buy gift cards before you go and use those to pay for the meals or as the pp suggested, you can charge everything to your room and use any method you choose to pay the charges .

Have you run the numbers to see if it would be worth it for you to upgrade 1 pass to an AP so that you could purchase Tables in Wonderland? That will get you 20% disc on most TS meals including adult beverages. The TiW costs $75 so you would have to see if you would save enough to cover that plus the cost to get 1 AP.

If that would work just be sure the card is in your or DBs name and then the card holder has to pay.

What resort are you staying at? It is good at the food courts at all the values and POFQ too since they don't have TS.
