Resort-only trip: How long?

We are planning a resort only trip for our Anniversary/Honeymoon. The current plan is to splurge and stay at the Grand Floridian for a night with a current room discount. That would only allow us 1 night on property but would be a once in a lifetime event for us. We would then head back and stay with family for the remainder of our vacation.

I’ve taken many trips to WDW without going into the parks. It makes a great low-cost vacation - Orlando is one of the cheapest places you can fly to with some of the best values for lodging. You can find basic, clean, recently renovated accommodations with a decent breakfast for $50-$70 (including taxes and fees) or big, elaborate resorts with beautiful pools and plenty of activities for $150-250 (including taxes and fees).

You can tell that many of the responses are from Disneyfanatics :). For example, you can grab a room at the Hyatt Grand Cypress for $200-$250 all-in (not including parking) most of the year. There’s few other places you can vacation in North America for that type of value, given the activity inclusions.

The Disney properties offer a ton of things to do, most of which are free… taking a boat ride from Disney Springs to Port Orleans, watching a movie with Chip N Dale at Fort Wilderness, etc.

If you plan to spend all day at the parks, there’s plenty of hotels with clean rooms that are offsite 15-20 minutes away for less than $100/night. If you’re spending $700 - $1,000 on a WDW room at the Poly, Contemporay at GF… seems to me it makes a lot more sense to enjoy the hotel. All have received a ton of upgrades including fantasy pool areas.

We go to dvc resorts only for 10 days to 2 weeks every March. I don’t miss the parks ever. Go to pool every day, play tennis or shuffle board, eat out most nights. It’s perfect for us

Just booked a 10 night non - park stay at AK; might make it less, might make it more but at least Ive the room during a busy season.

I could only do a weekend. Disney "resorts" pale in comparison to other nearby off property proper resorts with much greater amenities for less money. I get if you want the Disney bubble though.

We're doing a 3 night stay at POR in October. We just need a few days to recharge and wanted to keep it simple. We like the resort, Boatwright's, the pool and the boat to Disney Springs for extra dining options.
