I’ve taken many trips to WDW without going into the parks. It makes a great low-cost vacation - Orlando is one of the cheapest places you can fly to with some of the best values for lodging. You can find basic, clean, recently renovated accommodations with a decent breakfast for $50-$70 (including taxes and fees) or big, elaborate resorts with beautiful pools and plenty of activities for $150-250 (including taxes and fees).
You can tell that many of the responses are from Disneyfanatics

. For example, you can grab a room at the Hyatt Grand Cypress for $200-$250 all-in (not including parking) most of the year. There’s few other places you can vacation in North America for that type of value, given the activity inclusions.
The Disney properties offer a ton of things to do, most of which are free… taking a boat ride from Disney Springs to Port Orleans, watching a movie with Chip N Dale at Fort Wilderness, etc.
If you plan to spend all day at the parks, there’s plenty of hotels with clean rooms that are offsite 15-20 minutes away for less than $100/night. If you’re spending $700 - $1,000 on a WDW room at the Poly, Contemporay at GF… seems to me it makes a lot more sense to enjoy the hotel. All have received a ton of upgrades including fantasy pool areas.
