We have decided to make a quick end of August trip. Probably Wed night to Sunday, maybe Monday. No more than 4 full days.

We have been back and forth as to whether or not to upgrade the 8 day hoppers to AP's, b/c of a combination of the cost and our concern that we won't get much done in the parks in that heat with two young kids. So we are considering a "resort only" trip. By this I mean most of the time at the resort, but we could possibly do some pool hopping or 1 day at SeaWorld (wife can get free tickets).

We can stay on a combination of either points or points/cash at OKW, SSR, BWV, AKV, VWL. Our girls are 3 and 5.5. Keep in mind we have a November 10 day trip that will include a stay at AKV.

Where would you stay if you were going to spend at least 50-75% of your time at the resort, and why?

We do resort only trips frequently and I would also stay away from the parks in the August heat if I were returning in November. I think my first choice would be BWV because of the activity around the boardwalk in lieu of the parks. SSR would be my second choice because of its close proximity to DTD and all of the activities there. VWL offers all of the water activities on the Seven Seas Lagoon with a quick boat ride to the Contemporary and the monorail. Its always fun to resort hop on the monorails. If your children love the animals and you want to be more laid back and simply enjoy the resort, AKV is a good choice. I know, not much help! Good luck deciding!!!

You will find less resort attendance during the day at SSR and OKW. Resorts close to the parks tend to have more people coming and going all day long and the pools are more crowded.

now might stay at OKW - but would go over to SSR for their community hall. when the kids are tire of swimming (does that happen).

it is much bigger than OKW and it has separate rooms - instead of everything in one room.

also your kids are the perfect age to pool hop to POFQ. now for you this pool will almost be boring. It is definitely cute but so darn cute that it can get to you. that say your kids will love it. it is a short trip from OKW or SSR

that say love the pools at OKW.

With those ages 100% SSR.
There is 2 splash parks (1 in dtd), 2 huge fantastic pools, and walking to DTD every night for dinner. Self parking in from of resort, and the Artists Pallet is a perfect view all the way around.

I vote against a pool that is not a walk in with that age BLT, AK, SSR, and BC would have your best pools with 3 and 5..

.. I doubt much is open though for Aug.

I go ever yr in Aug last week/labor day. IT IS HOT, but if you go early, and leave park by 12 - 1 and enjoy the resort for a while you can go back at 5-6 for dinner and the evening isnt too bad. Also with thr random 10 min rain storms it can get cool pretty quick and the parks are very low attendance towards end of Aug.

SSR

Zero entry pool

boat access to DTD. It's always fun to ride a boat.

You are close to the Lego store.

Since you mentioned a stay including AKV later, am I to assume that you don't want to stay there in August? Because that would definitely be my first choice resortfor a resort only stay. There are so many activities right at the resort (resturant tours, ceramics painting, etc.) and the animals to watch and cultural interpreters to talk with all the time. Perhaps if you'll be at Kidani in November, pick Jambo now (or vice versa).

If it's not a park visiting trip, how about Vero? Alots of activities and it would be stellar beach weather.

Funny you should mention that. DH called just this week to book a week in August. When will you be there?

We will be staying at AKV. Only 2 adults with valid AP's, but will be there with 2 friends (no kids) without AP's.

Plan to have some nice meals, swim, visit the parks a bit for entertainment, and hang around the pool bar. If you end up there, tell Laura and Kim at the Jambo House pool bar that Joanie and Sam say "Hi". They are the BEST!
