Thinking of doing a 2 nights stay before or after our beach vacation in July/August and I'm debating between Beach Club or Animal Kingdom Lodge. We never stayed Deluxe before and I was wondering which one would be better? My girls will be 6 and 9 yo.

For me, it would depend on what my plans were. Will you visit any parks? If so, which ones? Do your girls like big water slides? Animals? Will you be spending more time at the resort?

Edited to add: Sorry! I just saw in your title it's a resort-only stay. In that case, I would pick AKL. I do like BC (mostly for its proximity to EP which you won't be visiting), but AKL is a destination unto itself. They have great food, fun activities and great pools.

It will be a resort-only stay so no time at the parks. Pool and waterslide is our #1 priority but I like the idea of looking at the animals at AKL. What about other activities at both resorts for young kids?

Because you will be at the beach immediately before or after your stay, I recommend AKL. One big advantage of BC is it's proximity to Epcot and DHS. That might be a disadvantage in your case. Also, many people don't like the fact that AKL is not adjacent to any parks (I'm not one of them). Again, in your case, that might be an advantage. AKL has a nice pool, although not as nice as BC. But AKL offers one of the more unique settings among all the WDW resorts. And it will definitely be a change from the beach. There are many things to see and do around the resort in addition to the animals. In my opinion, AKL is a better choice for a no-park trip.

I vote AKL. A key advantage of BC is proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Since you can't leverage this advantage, go for an AKL stay. AKL should be a few bucks cheaper, too!

We've stayed at both and my choice would be AKL. Since AKL is sort of secluded, I find it very quiet and relaxing and great for a resort only trip. We had a nice time at the BC, but the CS options are too limited for us and we weren't wow'd by SAB (we actually prefer other resort pools, with AKL pool being one of them).

I love AKL, especially for a resort only stay. It's a beautiful resort and definitely get the savanna view room. It's unlike any other hotel you'll find in the US.

I love BC and my kids did also. The pool is wonderful which I am sure you already know from research. I love to walk to both Epcot and HS but if you are not going to do that, then just seeing those parks would drive me crazy. I would stay at AKL it is also beautiful. We have stayed there as well and you wont be disappointed. Get a Savannah view it will be worth it.
