A friend of mine just got back from a Disney cruise. He said while at Castaway Cay he was talking to a CM while there. The CM said they were in the planning stages of putting a resort on Castaway Cay. That you would take a cruise there and then take it back off Castaway Cay. I know the info the CM's give is not always 100% accurate, so I just wanted to check to see if anyone else had heard this one.

From what I have heard, a resort on Castaway Cay would not be feasible due to the fact that there is supposedly a horrid bug problem once the sun goes down.

Also, it would cause a lot of problems to take one cruise there, another back... making sure that the number of outgoing cruisers isn't greater than the incoming cruisers, things like that.

I have heard that they want to expand the guest areas on CC but to put a resort there I don't think so. I actually hope they don't....I like the way CC is a more natural setting.

Going back for DCL cruise #17 in 2 weeks!!!

Yeah when he told me, I was hoping that it was a case of a CM giving wrong information to a guest. I haven't taken a Disney Cruise yet, but I am hoping to soon. The thought of a big resort on Castaway Cay seemed to ruin what I thought the whole idea of the place, and would totaly spoil the island.

I understand the legal problems with returning with fewer passengers can be a big problem to cruiselines.

This was discussed years ago and was considered not a good option.

Castmember accommodations are spartin...minimal infrastructure on the island

Little or nothing to do in the evening but watch television

Too much chance of major losses with storms - AND - problems with bypassing Castaway Cay when weather does not permit a stop.

and yes...insects are very bad at sunset and sunrise.

This rumor has been around before in various forms. There is actually a lot of undeveloped space on the island that could be used for this without interfering with the cruise passenger experience. Of course the bug situation could be a problem. The arrival and departure of visitors wouldn't be such a big problem is the resort was quite small and exclusive. I'm sure they would also have to repair the airstrip so it could be used for medical evacuations etc.

Could this possibly be the mysterious 5th park we keep hearing rumors of? It sure can be set up the very exclusive.
