I thought I had seen something here on the boards about a change in the refillable mugs, can anyone give me the scoop or has anybody experienced the changes? Thanks!

So far I have not seen a post that has stated that this has gone into effect yet. But....what is suppose to happen is that the new mugs will have bar codes on them linked to your reservation. Each time you fill up the cup you will have to scan the bar code to fill the cup up. Basically this will enforce the length of stay rule for the mugs w/o leaving it up to CM's (who tell guest the mugs are good for life).

Oh, you mean there NOT good for life:confused: I always thought they were. Going back to the Poly this Oct. and we were going to bring the mugs we bought last year. Do you think there will be a problem?

Well, since the mugs are good only for the visit you bought it, then YES it would be a problem to bring it back. The mug is a good deal, even for just one visit. With about 5 fill ups the mug has more then paid for itself.

I got a call from Wendy at WDW Executive Offices and she said that there is no change going into effect with the mugs and this is a rumor that has spread. She said the mugs we have used in the past are still good for future trips and there are no bar codes being added. This was on Friday that I got the call at home.

Geez, talk about the right hand not knowing what the left hand does.

Got an e-mail about a month back from WDW saying the opposite.

I sent another e-mail with a copy of the e-mail and a copy of the response to Micky1. Let's see what they say now.

This sure is............Goofy!

I would be interested in hearing what they have to say! It is unreal that Disney is telling one person one thing and other people another...no wonder there is so much debate and confusion on this subject! I think they need to sit down and fidure out what is happening and let all the employees know...esp the ones who are getting back to us, the consumers....that would make sense, don't ya think?

Currently the mugs are still good and the resorts do not have bar codes yet. The water parks were the only places with the bar code system in place.

Even if they do not go to bar coded mugs "officially" the mugs are for your length of stay ONLY!!

Obviously, many have been told by CM's that they are good for a lifetime. These CMs are either misinformed, uninformed, or simply (IMO) don't care.

But isn't it interesting that the Executive Office at WDW is telling someone what Mickey 1 just told us... and that was just a few days ago:

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone at WDW had the same information. I sent an email, also, asking for a clarification of the policy. I will be interested to see what they say. So far I haven't heard anything.

its no different from calling for reservations to a certain resort using a discount code or something like that and your told that there isnt anything available. so what does everyone do? Hang up, call back and the next person actually tries to look and by a strange miracle there is a room available. You can read hundreds of stories like that on these boards. Its crazy how these people will tell you totally opposite things.

The signs at the Polynesian snack bar say "mugs are good for your entire stay". It said nothing about good for a lifetime.

Well regardless of a new policy or a old policy being misunderstood....if mugs not good on all trips to the same hotel then thats one less thing to pack LOL. They always seem to take up that last bit of room that I need for something else hehehe
