I am trying to fine tune my budget for our upcoming trip and would like to know if they are $12 plus tax or is there no tax? I like to put my money into envelopes with the amount and what its for so all I have to do is pull out the appropriate envelope and I have just what I need. Thanks!

I'm not sure of the amount but I think that this is a great way of budgeting money for a trip. I've never done the "envelope" plan before but I think I might try it. My trip isn't until next September so I've got plenty of time but if I can delegate now - I'll know exactly what is "paid for" and what I still need to save for.

I'll be awaiting a post with this answer too!!

I'm sure someone will be along soon with the info!

We stayed last year at Poly and I did go ahead and buy one mug. We really got our money's worth out of it. I went to get coffee in the am and kids kept filling it at the pool. It turned out to be a great deal. I did see people with a party of 5 buying 5 mugs and my thought was we cou8ld share and it worked out fine. This year I may buy two at our resort but not one for everyone.

Thanks, guys! That's 6.5% for Florida tax, right?

sunkissed212 - We did the envelope system on our last trip and it worked wonderfully! I never had to guess where our money was going because I had it already separated out. I even allocated our spending money for each day in a separate envelope with the date on it. I would only take the envelopes we needed for that day and leave the rest in the room safe. If we had money left over from our allotment for the day, I would put it in an "extra" envelope that I carried every day. Helps keep you from overspending, too!

Just try to think of every expense (i.e., tips, airport parking, groceries etc.)and make an envelope for it.

Thanks for asking that question - I was wondering about that too! And we leave in a couple weeks! :cool1:

I do have to add though, that I look forward to buying mugs for all 4 of us. Not only can we all get a drink at the same time, but we use them big time AT HOME! We just fill and take to walks on the beach, show rehersals etc. And with everyone's initials on the bottom & cover, there's no issues with my DS's! (And everyone knows NOT to touch Mom's special Disney mug! princess: )

I went this past May and bought a refillable mug and I think I remember the price being $12.77 including the tax.

When we bought our mugs, we bought them with dinner. We were pleasantly surprised that they gave us 20% off our entire bill, including the mug, when we showed our DDE card!

Depends. All counties in FL can add to the base 6.5% sales tax.

i do the envelope thing@@@ the money i find in the laundry goes into the envelope for the kids spending money, then i have envelopes for gas, hotel (charged on card but i put in checking accout to pay) food, souveniers, extras, clothing for trip, film, etc. then i divide those into days of use also, the left over cash gets spent first the next day before the next envelope in that category is opened. i always come home with tons of cash because this keeps me well within budget!!

I thought I was the only one who did the envelope thing. We leave next Saturday - WOO HOO  and I just did the envelopes this morning.

Normally, we have room, air, tickets, etc. paid beforehand and we have the kid's save and use their own money (in envelopes of course) for souveniors.

The rest is normally for food and we usually budget $100/day for that. This time though, we have FREE dining, so I only budgeted $75/day and I am not sure if we will use any of it.

What we do is keep an "extra" envelope too and at the end of the day, we put any leftover money in it. Then, we don't touch it and when we get home, we put it away for the next trip.

It is so great to come home with cash and know we're already saving for the next trip! I use "extra" money for the vacation fund (my husband's overtime, money I get reimbursed for expenses at work, birthday cash my DH or I get, etc.). It is amazing how quickly it can add up!

:flower:

If you have a DDE card and purchase your mugs at a qualifying location you get the discount on them. I know this is possible at Everything Pop as we did it in May.

is it okay to take back the mugs we bought last year and use them again?

There are several schools of thought on that. We stay at the POLY several times a year. We buy new ones every few years and our current mugs go back and forth with us each time. One CM behind the counter at Captain Cooks told us that there is a gentleman who still comes in with a mug that is years and years old. She seemed to find it endearing. Another visit, when I bought a new one for a family member, a CM made a general comment that guests need to buy new mugs every time. We still carry our "current" ones that get filled and re-filled without any problem. They are not, however, really faded or beat up. They stay packed and at the ready for the next trip. Our older ones get used every day for coffee and soda. I think they get jealous of the ones that still get to go - only 26 more days :jumping1:

thanks. 38 days for me and then it's 14 nights at all star movies. just wish we didn't have a 10 hour flight first!
