Resort Hopping

I just booked a split stay with my pin. 3 nights Pop/4 nights WL. We didn't add tickets or dining though. I might have to call back and do that. They're going to be sick of me :lmao:

So here is what I *Thought* about doing, esp after reading this plan!

Arrive on December 7, via Magical Express, to POP Century for one night, room only reservations. We would go to DTD, use our $15 Planet Hollywood meal voucher, and attend MVMCP that evening (assuming their is one, and admission to the park is included in the ticket price, so no regular park ticket needed).

On December 8, I would like to move to a MOD to start my Magic Your Way, 5 or 6 day park hoppers, plus dining.

So here are my questions....

I'm assuming I can still use my PIN because my first reservation is not a package. But if I ended up splitting my stay 50/50, do you think I can book two seperate trips with the PIN?

About how much $$ does it cost outside the package (tips for services, etc.)

Can you be dropped off at one Resort for Magical Express, but be picked up at another when your (sniff sniff) vacation is over??

We are doing this in about 1 month!! (staying one night at PoP and moving to CSR for our package) I was told by my TA that YES, you will be able to use ME for arrival and departure. We plan on using a taxi to get us and our luggage to CSR. Thanks for the DTD and Planet Hollywood idea!! (If only there was a Princess and Pirate Party on 4/24, I would follow your plan to a tee!)
Anyway,I hope someone else can help answer your other questions!!:thumbsup2

We did a split stay in December with the Port Orleans Riverside first for 3 nights and then the Poly for 5 nights. It really helped me pay for more dinners and that was the reason I did it.

Personally, I would never do it again. It wasn't a hassle per se, but I just didn't enjoy switching. BUT, if you've never done it, it's worth trying once.

Good luck!

You only need to do seperate park tickets if you are going to be taking advantage of the DDP. We looked into resort hopping because I am awful at making decisions, but it just added more to our cost since we really want to do the DDP. Good luck though!

We like resort hopping, it's kind of like a vacation within a vacation. However we usually do more days at one of our favorite resorts at the end of the stay, the end of this month we're doing one night at ASMO and 2nts. at POR. Just a long weekend trip. One tip, we always have a car, so the a.m. we are due to switch resorts I am always up very early, so I drive to the next resort and check in as early as possible, go back and pack up for the move. It seems less stressful, my friend can sleep in since we don't technically have to be out until 11am and I always avoid long check in lines.

We did 2 nights at CR followed by 5 nights at BCV. We had DDP for the stay at CR & nothing for stay at BCV. We took the luggage to Bell Services & thry transferred it. When we checked into BCV, Bell Services brought the luggage over. The split stay definitely worked for us to...

*avoid high weekend point costs at BCV
*enjoy a stay at CR which was something I'd always wanted to do
*have DDP for part of the trip only so not overloaded with food

We would definitely do it again & try out different resorts that way.

You can not get DDP without tickets (unless though DVC, I believe). If you must have DDP throughout your trip, then you will have to do

Resort 1 + DDP + any length tickets, you can make them extend through your whole stay. These credits will expire at midnight of check-out day.
Resort 2 + DDP + at least 1 day tickets, you can save these for another trip.

Even though I know its costing more, I think I'm gonna leave things as is...its just too complicated otherwise. This is what the CM gave me when I booked. We used our 20% pin on both packages.

3 nights AKL + 4 day Hopper ticket + 3 day DDP
5 nights Poly + 5 day Hopper ticket + 5 day DDP

This way I will be able to leave AKL moving day and go to a park until mid afternoon then go to Poly and check in. (We won't have a car so will be using the buses)

My only problem will be making sure to use up the first 3 days of dining before midnight of moving day.

I didn't think the split would be this complicated when I planned it. But my DS8 really wanted to stay at AKL and DH & I wanted the convenience of doing MK from Poly. (mid afternoon naps were a must for us  )

I did a split stay last year (WL and Poly) and am doing it again in August (Poly and POFQ). I bought a 10 day hopper ticket on the first resort, and then a 1 day base for the second as I am using the dining plan. I plan on using the 1 day tickets at a future date.
We packed 2 suitcases for the trip, each with enough clothing for both of us for each resort stay. This eliminated some unpacking.
We also checked out early and took a taxi from WL to the Poly. I am sure bell services would have gotten our stuff to the new resort, but I thought this would be easier. WE were able to check in early at the 2nd resort so it was resort day for us.

The Dolphin will move your luggage. We have split almost all of our trips and it's easy and a lot of fun to try two resorts.

I've done several split stays, including one crazy trip where I did BWI, AKL and POR and found that the switch was flawless each time. Disney does a great job of making it hassle and worry free. :)

I went to the allexperts.com page as well as asking my travel agent on this. They all explained it to me the same. The trip overall gets much cheaper with each day so if you are booking two separate trips including dining and park hoppers it is much more expensive.

They told me the best way to do it is to book the cheapest resort first and do park hoppers for my entire stay because they get to where they are just a few dollars a day. Don't do dining as long as you are at the first resort then when you book the second resort do the dining package and no tickets. I have no idea if this is the best way but when I did the math this seemed to be the best option financially.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Debbie

This is EXACTLY what Disney did for me - they said that it was the cheapest way to go when doing a split stay!!
