Resort hopping allowed?

I cannot imagine them being able to enforce this at a place like Boardwalk, where people can easily walk over from neighboring resorts and parks. In fact, Beach Club guests are allowed to use the Luna Park pool while Stormalong Bay remains closed here in the beginning.

Huh. We'll see.

FWIW I was watching Prince Charming Dev's vlog yesterday where he was staying at SSR, he walked over to DS and then got a bus to the Poly.

I really don't think this is enforceable unless you're taking a car.

I am sorry but resort hopping is just like park hopping so I do hope Disney enforces this once parks open up as it does not make sense. You want to minimize your exposure to multiple other people as per social distancing... resort hopping falls into a risk... if you are going in 2020, please follow Disney's policies and procedures and do not try to circumvent the rules because you deem yourself more important than others. If resort hopping is not allowed without a dining reservation, do not do it! It really is that simple.

I think by "day guest" they mean not staying at A WDW resort overnight. Not necessarily that particular resort. You can walk between many resorts and there's no way they are going to scan magic bands for everyone entering a hotel. Also, even this week people have reported that they are not checking for those returning to a hotel on a bus from DS. So, my money is that guard shacks are checking for cars that enter. Otherwise, its not happening.

In a perfect world people would do this. But we live in a world where people are selfish and entitled and think rules apply to other people, not them. Thus the discussion on just how Disney will enforce this policy. Leaving it to people to do the right thing is hilariously naive.

I think that's another reason people won't follow the "rule" -- it's not exactly clear what it means. Or what the intention is behind it. Are we worried about capacity? Or health? If health.. the idea that you would allow guests to enter a theme park with multiple thousands of other people... but then be worried about increased exposure at your hotel due to resort hopping.. I mean it doesn't really make sense to me. But Disney has done a lot of things recently that don't make sense to me.. so who knows!

I would have to imagine the rule is in place to help facilitate social distancing for the sake of guests staying at those resorts. Think about resorts like the Poly or CR that frequently have non-guests visiting for shopping, to look around. Not to mention guests of other resorts who use these spaces as a rest break during park days to avoid eating up time going back to their own resorts much further away. If only people with dining reservations are allowed in, it cuts down a lot on the number of people packing lobbies and common areas and keeps them open for people actually staying there.

I honestly think it's one reason 'Ohana isn't open initially, besides the fact that it's a character meal by day and churrascaria by night. That place is a magnet for people coming from the outside and they're always crowding in around Tambu and the lower level of the lobby.

Totally understand what you're saying! I'm not disagreeing with the idea behind the rule. I stayed at the Poly in Feb and the amount of people in the lobby every day drove me nuts! I was just agreeing that I think it will be incredibly difficult to enforce given everything that's been mentioned on here -- especially when you add to that the fact that the language is not clear. And the idea that circumventing this ambiguous guideline made you a bad person was a bit of a stretch for me.

Just out of curiosity...is there a full list of resort restaurants that will be open? I saw a list for the parks, but not for resorts other than a few for current DVC guests.. Possibly because not all resorts will be open?

Yeah, honor code does not work at WDW. :duck:

I get it. Ever since they announced this rule I wondered about the fact that a lot of resorts legitimately share amenities. Like how Poly guests use the GF's fitness center and now BCV guests using the It pool at BWI. Not monitoring guests coming in from DS was surprising to me tbh.

I agree! It did seem like they’re at least being pretty strict with those who are driving in. I saw a few posts where the gate attendant scanned MBs, counted that people in car matched guest # on the ADR. So at least they’re able to control that part? Hopefully that will help those at the busier resorts somewhat!
