My dh and I are planning to go to WDW sometime next year (between Thanksgiving and Christmas). The big debate in our house is whether or not to stay at a monorail resort (gf/contemporary) or akl or an epcot resort. I do not want to rent a car on this trip- and we are probably going to do one of the packages- which I'll post a different question on later. Any experience or advice for a couple with no kids?
Thanks,
Dana

I would like to know also. Bf and I have always stayed at all-stars. We are thinking about taking a second trip this yr..maybe first week of Sept. With this being value season, I would like some advice on resorts. We will probably do a package also. We are doing gold dreammaker in March, but if it is just too much we may do silver for Sept.:smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

While it is great staying on the monorail line, for 2 adults I think the Epcot area would be great. You would be able to walk easily to Epcot, which is generally open the latest in slower times, as well as to Studios. All the great fun and entertainment of the Boardwalk area would be at your doorstep. I know thats what I would do if I could ever get DH to go on such a trip!

we have travelled about 5 or 6 times to wdw w/out children. most of the times we have stayed at the wilderness lodge. the lodge has a really laid back feeling to it and being at the lodge you really seems to be away from everything. we have never had problems w/the transportation from the lodge. artist point there is fabulous for evening dining. another thought would be old key west. yes, it is a dvc resort, but it too is very laid back. this is our home resort. the rooms are larger than most on property. we have stayed in a studio many times and it is great for 2 adults. there is a microwave, small frig, coffeemaker, and toaster in the room just some different thoughts to consider.:p

I would lean toward the YC/BC. Just as TTFN said in the evening there is so much more for adults to do. The boats to MGM & EC are great. The monorail is a great convenience but I think this area is better suited to adults.

Don't forget Swan/Dolphin if you are eligible for govt employee discount.

Just DW and I are going this year in first week of December and are staying at All Star because of great discount during this time period. We will probably be in the parks most of the time, so the cost-savings far outweighs the lack of amenities.

Have fun planning your trip!

Last year my DH and I did this, and we stayed at the Contemporary, which we loved.

However, if we were to do it again, I think we would choose an Epcot resort. Perhaps the Boardwalk Inn.

I would hesitate to do AKL without a car.

I think YC/BC would be fabulous. It is very close to Epcot and Boardwalk, so there's a lot to do and see without a car.

You can boat to MGM.

Have a magical trip!:D

I would definately choose any Epcot resort. Check out Swan or Dolphin to see if you are eligible for any of the discounts, first.

For the time frame you are looking at, I would definately go to the Epcot area. Epcot at Christmas time is fantastic - plus the easy boat ride to MGM.
