Lurked forever - finally decided that I need help -

I have been to WDW alot but now I have a problem.

I am planning a trip for me and a DBF to see the Christmas decorations in Dec. He has never been before - he isn't a exciting ride type - I can't decide which resort to stay at. He is a big breakfast person, I'm not. I was thinking CSR because of Pepper Market and queen beds. But I am toying with the other Deluxe options. AKL has Mara - decent food selections, Wilderness Lodge - gorgeous - but Roarking Forks breakfast limited and I hate Whispering Canyon - I have always had bad service there. I guess I am asking where would you stay if you are a breakfast person, but don't want to spend all your time sitting down for breakfast?

I prefer the Poly for breakfast. Kona has a great selection. What about a breakfast in the parks? We love to start the day that way when traveling with people who aren't big riders.

Welcome to the boards!

I love breakfast at Olivia's (Old Key West) and Grand Floridian Cafe (GF). Also Boatwrights usually has a nice breakfast as well (POR). I didn't care for Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. They totally ruined the Eggs Benedict (and I had a bad dinner there as well - two strikes - they're out).

I'd rather eat breakfast than dinner. And all the buffets have wonderful breakfasts.

Thanks for the input - I have only eaten Lunch at the Kona - the only time I stayed at the Poly it was club level - Usually I am a rope drop person, but since I am going for the more sedate rides, decorations, and night shows - I guess I can sit down for breakfast. But buffets are a great options - but which resort?

Must say I agree with you re: breakfast at Whispering Canyon. Too obnoxious/loud. Olivia's was very greasy to me!! Enjoy Kona the best. Stayed at WL and took the boat to the CL and Mono to Poly. No reservations--we were seated immediately (January maybe). Started with mimosas and strawberries. Ordered poached eggs, with toast. It came with potatoes as well. Shared fresh fruit too. Best of all the Kona blend. Great service, no waiting, beautiful, great transporation. Price is comparable to the rest of Disney.

CSR grab and go bacon, egg, and cheese on a cheese roll (fresh made while you wait) w/OJ & coffee while sitting outside looking over the lake was just beautiful too!! Wasn't hungry until dinnertime!!

POFQ has wonderful beignets made to order. Again beautiful surroundings outside.

Wondering about The Wave at the Cont. Will have to put that on our list.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Christmas you made need to think about reservations. WL is beautiful at Christmastime. Look at the pictures on the different threads.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Any resort.. it doesn't really matter. Because no matter where you choose to stay, you can still travel to the others to eat breakfast or any other meal.

Get whichever resort suits your liking asthetically as well as financially and have a great time.

We stayed at AKL last year and Boma has a decent breakfast buffet.

Breakfast at PM is not much worth mentioning. It is maybe a tiny step above a counter service at a value. Just not as noisy and more relaxing.
Maya Grill has what sound to be a good breakfast. Although I heard somewhere they are going from buffet to a menu.
Kouzzina's has a good and interesting breakfast.
Poly (Kona's and Captn Cooks) has good breakfasts.
I had a great Eggs Benedict at GF Cafe a few years ago. But such bad service that was the last straw for DDE (now TiW) for us. Haven't returned and probably will not for a long time.
Boma is good for any meal.
You may even want to treat him to the Sunday Gospel brunch at HoB.
We had the breakfast buffet at Captain's Grill. (YC) Was good. Nothing really note worthy that I can recall though.
Actually -- as long as they still have them -- the walk up at CSR had really good grab n go quiches.

FYI, Boatwrights no longer serves breakfast.

Love beignets!!!
Also BC is great because they have a character breakfast.
But there are usually some great breakfast options at most hotels. Chef Mickeys-Contemporary, 1900 Park Fare (GF), and many more :)
All depends on what you want

Poly is another good choice. Ohana does a great breakfast, and Kona Cafe is our favorite! Get the pressed Kona pot!

I also think the Poly. Kona has the wonderful delicious incredible TONGA TOASt :cloud9: also the macademia nut pancakes are to die for as well as the Kona coffee. There is also the Stitch character breakfast at Ohana which is one of the best character breakfasts. The food is really good and they bring it to you so its super relaxing. The pineapple bread and the juices are awesome. And Stitch is so fun he is always goofing ( ;) ) with you. Its also on the monorail so you can easily go to GF or Cont (Chef Mickeys) or to the MK for breakfast ( Cindy's castle , Crystal Palace or Tonys) or to EPCOT for the Princess breakfast at Norway. Plus the pool is fab and the resort is beautiful and relaxing.

If breakfast were driving my resort choice I stayed on the Monorail. Then you have easy access to all those wonderful places to eat!

And after reading an above post, I am VERY interested in trying Kona for breakfast now!! Sounds yum!!

If you have to have breakfast at the resort you are staying at you are not going to beat the Poly. With Ohana and Kona both onsite that is a no brainer. Both are great in their own right and different enough to not be overlapping.

BUT I why not Crystal Palace? If you like rope drop and he likes breakfast, that is another perfect choice. Pooh's puffed french toast...oh my!! lol
And if you stay at the Poly you would be that close and have CP be a third choice in the mix.
