We are staying offsite but wanted to explore the resorts. we did this last year and after dinner took the monorail around and explored. This time we are thinking of taking the boat from DS or the Gondolas. Any suggestions of which resorts are worth visiting and which we should stay away from. We have 4 kids from 7 to 15 but they are good sports about just walking around. TIA

I've never done it but I heard there's some sort of scavenger hunt for the resorts along the skyliner.

Not the easiest to get to, but I like to explore AKL. Besides the animal viewing areas, there is a lot of artwork in the lobby and hallways. WL is similar (art is western instead of African), and can boat from MK.

If you are leaving from DS, only buses and boats leave from there. The Skyliner is not connected to DS.

Using the boat you can visit POR, POFQ, Saratoga Springs or Old Key West.

From DS if you wish to try the Skyliner (highly recommended!!) take a bus to Pop Century or Art of Animation and go from there. The Skyliner will take you to Caribbean Beach Resort where you can choose to go to DHS or Epcot. The Epcot line slows at the Riviera for gets to board/disembark or, you can go to Epcot and tour the boardwalk area.

Lots of great options to tour resorts using Disney transportation! A great way to see what options there are to access resorts via Disney transportation is via the MDE app:

- open app
- select 'hamburger' icon in the bottom right corner
- scroll down to Transportation
- 'Show List' (top right corner)
- when you select the different methods of transportation it will display the different resorts that use each type of transportation.

We love taking the Skyliner just for fun! The Epcot area resorts are some of our favorites, and there is a scavenger hunt throughout Yacht Club, Beach Club, and the Boardwalk. My kiddos love doing it, and they've collected the free little gift they've gotten from each one. You can't beat the views, too!

we ate at the Whispering Canyon 2 years ago and Artist Lake 4 years ago and explored WL. it was awesome. We are thinking AKL and booking dinner there. Concerned though because the kids are a little picky eaters

This is great thank you. if we took the skyliner we can get off at the Boardwalk area? Can you get to the Fantasia Mini Golf from there as well?

You can take Skyliner to the EPCOT station, get off and walk to Boardwalk and eventually Fantasia Golf. It's probably 1/2 - 3/4 mile walk from the Skyliner station to mini golf.

anyone know if there is a bad time to view the animals at AKL? Sun will set around 6pm and we were going to do dinner then at 'Boma so we would explore before that.

I don't actually think there is a bad time. But late afternoon early evening should be a good time to see animals, either from the main observation area out the back of the Jambo lobby, or the viewing areas around the pool - all that is within close proximity of Boma. I don't know if the cast members with night vision goggles have returned since the pandemic - that was something amazing to see after dark.

I'm sure the animals are brought in for certain things, like checkups or other issues. But for the most part, they are on the savannas as much as they wish to be. Food is brought out for them throughout the day. I expect if an animal chooses to go back to the barn, they let them in - but they tend to mingle just about all day and into the night.

awesome

We always enjoy taking the boat from DS to the French Quarter. There is a little playground there that the kiddos could play at for a bit (not the pool though). I also enjoy the atmosphere of that area. You could plan to get some beignets too!

The boardwalk would be really nice and the kids would enjoy. The gondola would drop you off. They have little shops and places to eat. You can even take the boat as well.

Do the Skyliner and check out all the resorts it covers, you can combine Skyliner and Boat transportation to see even more resorts its a nice free way to kill a day... Plan lunch or dinner at a resort when done

My daughter and I are adventurous eaters, but my husband and two boys are picky eaters! They usually just order burgers everywhere, but all three loved Boma!
