I know the 2013 rates were released today, and that nothing is set in stone. But generally speaking, when do they offer their resort discounts?? We are looking to stay at AoA mid Oct next year.

They haven't released the room discount for THIS October yet, but FD for this October will be released tomorrow. Keep in mind that the middle two weeks of October are typically blacked out for both FD and room codes. Next year, start looking for public codes to come out mid-July through the end of August. PIN codes for October can come out anytime during the year.

Ok, I need to ask my co worker when she booked then. She is going Oct this year. She got a quote, then didnt book for another week & half and the rate had gone up about $50/night for AoA.

We are doing 7 nights, and it can either be Sept 30-Oct 7, or Oct 14-21. Which is better in terms of crowds/weather?

What is FD? Sorry, new to WDW.

FD is free dining. :goodvibes

I'm not sure why her quote would have gone up for her room. Pricing is set and then left alone until the following year. So the rates that came out today for 2013 will not change until 2014. The ticket prices did change on June 3, so maybe that is the difference. Not sure on that one.:scratchin

Def wasn't tix. Maybe the discount rates fluctuate for us (we are cast members).

Not sure we will be doing the free dining anyhow, I dont fully understand it, & I am not sure it is a higher discount than I already get.

Since rack rate for next year was just released this morning (?) they would have quoted her the "peak rate" for this year as her cost. Her room price likely would have gone up anyways, because reservations made prior to the release of rack rate for the year in question automatically adjust to the applicable pricing.

As for Free Dining, your CM discount may very well be better. It depends on the number of people traveling and their eating habits. If you're getting 50% off on a AoA family suite, then you're looking at a savings of around $150/night (it depends on rack rate for those weeks). Since the Value resorts only include Quick Service Dining, you would have to be traveling with more than 4 Disney adults in order to make Free Dining a better option. (just estimates, I have no idea how much the CM discount is, I've just heard 50%)
If she's booking in a Little Mermaid room, then Free Dining would probably be better with only 2 adults ($80ish savings) as a percent off discount would be less because rack rate is lower.

If she wants to do a little comparison, she can price a vacation for this year using similar dates to the ones she wants to use next year. It won't be exact, because prices for everything went up for next year, but it will give her an idea of what to expect from a particular discount in comparison to what they're quoting her for next year.

Ok, starting to make more sense. Maybe you can help me determine which is the better value for my trip. We are a family of 5, 2 kids, 3 adults. Room rates for us are UP TO 50% off, but that varies. Food discount is 20%.

In comparison to DL, we usually do quick service, except breakfast. With maybe 1 or 2 table service meals. I know for sure, if open, I want to eat in the new Be Our Guest restaurant.

Not sure if the general free dining is the same as the Visa offer out now but the Little Mermaid Standard View Rooms at AoA are not included in the offer along with grand villas at the DVC resorts.

This is untrue! I booked a room only two weeks ago and I only paid the real rack rate. Not the peak rack rate.

I believe 2013 rack rates were actually established on the same day as the ticket prices went up. I believe they were in a post on the Disney blog, but it wasn't all resorts and all room categories listed. So I think that's possible, but what the PP stated is the way it works when the next years prices aren't established yet. No need to get so exclamation-point up in arms about it.

Um, I wasn't being rude. Just because I used an exclamation point (I only used one) doesn't mean I was all angry and mean. I was just sharing MY experience. No need to be so rude. Way to assume though. :rolleyes2

You can check out past history on mousesavers.

However, I think this year with discounts is going to be really different.....

Just to be sure about the FD, I have to book a package in order to get that right? Room & tix.

And if I need say 4 day tix for some of us, and 2 days for others, how would that work out?

Get 2 day tickets for everyone, and then upgrade the tickets at checkin (or if the ticket price has increased from when originally purchased, use the tickets at a park first and then do the upgrading).
