Hi,

Is it possible to take your meal back to your room? We are staying at AKL and POFQ and I wanted to know, especially for breakfast, if they have any sort of containers where you could put a hot breakfast or dinner and take it back to your room or whether you have to eat it at the CS restaurant?

I'm specifically curious about Sassagoula Floatworks and Mara at AKL, thanks

At any counter service place, just tell them it's "to go". We've done this all over Disney World - at the resorts for taking back to the room and at the parks when one of us wanted something at one place and the other wanted something at another. We just ate somewhere in between on a bench. Works extremely well at Epcot in World Showcase.

Mara also has a lot of pre-packaged meals (salads, sandwiches, desserts) you can take from their fridge section.

We have often done this. You can ask to have anything "packaged" to go. Sometimes it is truly packaged, other times they just provided an extra plate to cover the meal. You can use a tray for easier transport. Sometimes we would return the tray when we were heading back out and traveling past the food court area, sometimes housekeeping collected them.

I highly recommend eating some meals in the room. For our family it provided necessary down time. I'll share 3 scenarios:

1. Breakfast - prior to the start of a very busy commando-style park adventure a substantial breakfast in the peace of our room was great!

2. Lunch - arriving back at the resort after a hectic morning, preparing to take a midday break. Eating in the room was the decompression period for us.

3. Dinner or late night snacks - getting "home" after a long day; one parent brought the kids directly back to the room(s), one went to get the food...kind of the " Go to the room, go directly to the room. Do not pass go, do not collect $200" approach.

Anyway, getting food from the food courts and heading back to your room is a-okay.

If we wanted a late night snack, or wanted to save some time in the mornings, DH would go to the food court and get the 4 of us meals to go. They don't give you any bags to carry the food in, so it becomes a bit challenging to get food and drinks balanced on one tray. When we ate at PM and RFC, we were given foam containers to carry out our leftovers. RFC actually gave us a bag.
