Resort Counter Service! Any Hidden gems?

My favorite CS restaurant is Wolfgang Puck Express. You order your food at the counter, and then they bring it to you at your table. It's kind of like a TS restaurant in that respect. I also recommend Captain Cook's at the Poly. The food is pretty good, but the best part is that you can get dole whip for dessert :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed the Boardwalk Bakery located on the Boardwalk. The sandwiches were very delicious. But the desserts were the best! My son who was 3 at the time got a cupcake that was enormous! I have cute pictures of him trying to get that cupcake in his mouth!

SSR's Artist Palette for any meal, even breakfast.

Mara is good and of course, AKL is so pretty to visit.

DTD-WPE and EofS. I liked them both, but WPE the most.

This is the BEST tool for planning a trip to Disney. We never used the dining plan before and I made a post, and many of you pitched in your ideas. Now this section for the best counter service meals, just priceless. I thank all of you for your fantabulous ideas. Our twins still don't have a clue about our trip next week. I'm so proud of myself for not spilling the beans. My biggest challenge will be how to get to each place from all star movies in the morning and from the parks. I'm hoping to find a thread here somewhere with traveling tips between the resorts and restaurants. Again, pixie dust to all for your help.
Stay well,
AnnMarie

Have a great trip!

well, will you have a car?

there is a Transportation Thread on the Dis.
if you don't have a car with you, then you need to use disney transportation (or get a cab).
if you need specifics, PM me, and I will let you know!

Disney Quest has a nice food bar with GREAT deserts, the Cupcakes are out of this world!!! a real work of art and the sandwich special is usualyy something FANTASTIC - poor DQ - so underappreciated :)

I would highly recommend the Contempo Cafe at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

I absolutely agree. The marinated beef flatbread is amazing. Just be warned, the ordering situation is screwy/counterintuitive, but the prices are Disney-reasonable and the food is excellent.

We love Artist Palette at SSR but Mara at AKL is very good and the resort itself is worth the trip! Earl of Sandwich is definitely a favorite, but we just may have to try WPE next trip!!

AnnMarie... here is a link to a transportation wizard that give WDW travel suggestions (for example... best route from one resort to another)

We ate at Captain Cooks at the Poly a few nights ago. DH had the BBQ pork sandwich and I had the Polynesian salad. Both were excellent and a nice break from the burgers and fries.

I never had any problems with their touch screen ordering machines, although maybe it's because they work just like the ones at Captain Cooks which I used before the Contempo Cafe had opened.

Margherita Pizza at the Pepper Market in Coronado Springs is very good.

We really liked the Boardwalk bakery both for breakfast and lunch. But the later in the day you go there, the more likely it will be that the best sandwiches will be gone.

Go to Downtown Disney do a bit of shopping when they open up and then go to Earl of Sandwich. This was the best counter service meal i had the whole trip (all meals were good but this was the best). The sandwiches are excellent all on fresh hot crispy bread, I had the Hawaiian chicken sandwich with chicken, ham slices, pineapple, & BBQ sauce. There was a
nice variety of desserts, i had a big round double decker brownie with peanut butter in the middle. My girls had a yummy round cake with sprinkles for their dessert.
I think the quality & quantity of this meal was the best use of my counter service the whole trip. I was on free dining plan and definitely enjoyed it.

Earl of Sandwich gets our vote. You can ask for extra meat on the sandwich or in the salad, at no extra charge. This is usually our 'arrival meal' each time.

Both POFQ andPOR get my vote. Love the make you own pasta dish at POR, huge portions. Beignets at POFQ---YUMMY. Also the ribs and the pot roast at POFQ were very good. Decent Philly cheesesteak too. Also both are a short relaxing boat ride from DTD.

My fav CS meal at a resort is the Oriental Chicken Salad at CBR's Deli. It is wonderful, with Salad, Lomain noodles, chicken and Asian Ginger dressing. I look forward to it every trip.

I'm a big fan of Roaring Forks at the WL. I like the flatbread pizzas and burgers; DW loves the salad with chicken and chopped apples.

If you like chicken and ribs or pot roast we love pofq. Ice cream or begneits for desert. Never crowded and love to walk down to the sassagoula.

Capt Cooks at the Poly - awesome adult grilled cheese sandwich and chicken lo mein

Gasparilla Grill at the GF - their Italian cold cut sandwich was delish!

POFQ - DH is in love with the taco salads there, I am a huge sucker for the muffaletta and the macaroni salad is sooo good and fresh!
