I have a question for all of you. Please help!

When making reservations and checking into the hotel. Does the person that makes the reservations (ie. the name the room is booked under). Does that person have to have an annual pass in their name?

Let me see if I can explain better.

In December my fiance and I are going to WDW with my two parents for 10 days. My dad is securing the reservations and we are hoping to use an AP discount if available. Now I realize that all four of us don't need to have AP's only one of us. But can my dad book and pay for the reservations under his name and me buy the AP? or does my dad need to buy the AP?

What I'm essentially asking to use the AP rate, does the same person that makes reservations and pays for the rooms, do they need to have the AP in their name or can the AP be for one of the other party members?

My parents are making the reservations and paying for the rooms but my fiance and I would like to have the AP's in our names because we are more likely to spend every day of our trip in the parks and we are more likely to return within a year. My parents might spend a day in each park.

Thank you!

I think that you can have the AP and your Dad can have the reservation. I may be wrong but I have seen on this board where people will buy 1 childs AP and use it to make the reservations .

We're not buying a child's AP to get an upperhand on the system. I'm 30yrs old and my fiance, she is 27 yrs old. We're just lucky enought that my parents are paying the hotel cost. I'm just not sure if my dad has to have the AP or me and my fiance can have them and use our discount on my dad's reservations.

I wasn't implying that. I just meant that I had seen where people were doing that and that they were being allowed to make the reservation even though obviously most children that age don't have their own credit card :) I have read that the only thing required is that the passholder be in one of the rooms booked on the AP. I think you can book up to three rooms off of one AP. We have never had to use this since we are a family of four. I am the AP holder but I also make the reservation in my name all the time. It just works out easier for us. Hope that this didn't offend you.

No offense taken. :) Thanks for your response.

Anyone else has anything to add to my question? Can anyone confirm what "rcraw45425" has mentioned? I would appreciate a couple different opinions. No offense "rcraw45425". :) I just want to be sure before we make our reservations.

thanks again for you input.

Oh, believe me, none taken either. :) This is our first time haveing/using an AP for room discounts so I am new to this too. Up until last summer I didn't even know that this board existed and we always paid rack rate  One of our CR stays , two spring breaks ago, we started out at the Hotel Royal Plaza in the DTD area. It was sad! We had booked there because we were actually down there for the big air show in Lakeland and just decided to maybe squeeze in a day or two at WDW. The first time we headed back to our car on the tram and a family refused to fold their stroller to ride the tram. After we sat there for 20 minutes while they argues with the tram driver and he threatened to call security on them my DH said we're moving, I don't care how much it costs! Well, it was $350 a night for a garden wing room and we called from the tram to get it. I always felt that AP's were an extravagence but after making three trips last year I came home and ordered a voucher. This is my first time using it but it got my room at the Yacht Club down to $227 tax included and my tower CR room down to < $350 during peak spring brak so I figure it's paid for itself. I truly hope you enjoy your trip and enjoy the planning stage. If you haven't already, go out and get a copy of the Unofficial Guide to WDW, the 2005 edition is out. It's packed with lots of info!

If your dad is an Ap holder he can book up to 3 rooms with his annual pass and get the discount. He has to be present at check-in if the cast members ask to see the AP to verify validity of the discount.

HTH some!

None of the four people going on this trip are current AP holders. Me, My fiance, my mom and my dad are going. Me and my fiance are the ones that probably will have the AP upon check in. Not my dad. That why I wasn't sure if he had to have an AP or we could. Just so we all check in together and stay in the same room. I guess it works the same way. just so I'm there at check in with my AP, I guess it doesn't matter if he makes the reservations and pays for the room cost.

I made an AP rate room reservation a few weeks ago. The CM told me that I didn't have to have the AP (room was in my name). It just had to be somebody whose name is listed on the reservation, and it had to be an adult. I did read somewhere that the AP holder did have to be present when checking in.
