Hi all,

After browsing through 10 pages of posts and countless threads, I thought I would just ask. (search function does not work for me). Is it possible to complete resort check-in at Orlando International through ME, without actually boarding ME? We plan to use a rental car and take our luggage with us, but would like the convenience of checking in at airport.

Last time our check-in at the resort (All Star Sports) was horrid, it took around an hour just to get through the line and another 30 min for the CM to assign a room.

No, it is not possible. In reality, you are not checking into the resort, you are checking in to take ME. You still have to wait in line at the resort to actually check in for your room.

EXACTLY.

Checking in at the DME Welcome Center has nothing to do with checking in at your resort. You are checking in with DME, so they know you arrived and to have the computer be on the lookout for your DME-tagged luggage.

Perhaps you're thinking about another perk of DME, that the computer sends a message to your resort that you have arrived and to hold a room for you if one is available. A room is held for you, but you can't possibly actually check into the resort without arriving at the resort's front desk in-person.

The other bottom line, as you probably know from all the reading you did, is that you can't have DME deliver your luggage without riding the bus, and thus you also know not to put the yellow DME tags on your bags.

Interesting question to ask, but unfortunately you can't do it that way. ENJOY WDW, and I hope your next check-in experience isn't so horrid!

Letting guests actually check in to their hotel at MCO and then take a bus directly to a theme park is a logical extension of DME.

We don't know what happens if you check in at the DME desk but don't board the bus. If your rental car trunk isn't big enough for you luggage I suggest having one family member take the bus, just to be sure.

That's an excellent idea and it might even save WDW some money.

the BEST benefit of ME is that you don't have to collect your luggage at MCO. you just go straight to your hotel, check in, and it appears in your room later on. the longest we have waited is 3 hours. once was less than 2 hours and the last time we used it, we had just gotten into the room (came straight from MCO on ME) when the luggage person knocked on the door. can't beat that!
