Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

The dining plan we are on...QS to DP. Resort possibly too....:lmao:

Kaler, switch to DP just in case you want to sit down. You get both QS/TS with DP. Only thing is you don't get 2 snacks or the refillable....oh dear, choices choices :goodvibes

Hi Ya'll....practicing my southern accent since we will be CHANGING addresses soon (hopefully). We want to hear from all of you who have recently returned....did you have changers remorse?

I sure wish the TS DP came with a refillable mug! Hard choice for me too! The QS plan sounds better to me, except I would at least like to eat at one Character breakfast and one TS while on my trip.

Okay, I saw pictures of OKW and I'm getting anci about my SSR choice. Besides the rooms being larger, there is a tropical feel that I may enjoy. What I cannot find are pictures of the pool at OKW. Do SSR and OKW have slides at the main pool? I saw an amazing photo of OKW and the room backed to a golf course like view. Do I want OKW or SSR? Considering the fact that I REALLY wanted an Epcot resort, it is important that I choose the right DVC resort....perhaps the right choice will convince my DH to purchase. :goodvibes

We were going to be with you @ SSR, but after seeing pictures of OKW, we had to switch! It looks so peaceful and I love all the palm trees everywhere!
The pool has a large slide that's hidden in a big sand castle. I love the idea of larger rooms and we are alittle closer to Epcot :)
I think my family will love OKW!

Is it closer to Epcot??!!! Oh my, I may have to change resorts. We have a one bedroom and the rooms are much bigger at OKW. It does look peaceful.... I may have to really think about this today...

OKW is a wonderful resort. It is very peaceful and just so "Florida". I do believe that I could book OKW every trip and not ever change my plans. If only my DH could agree with me.:rolleyes1

I have been reading through this thread and it is hilarious!! I am so glad that there are so many people out there like me. I just went through my Disney confirmations and this is what's in my inbox:

Fort Wilderness cabins (this is where we started)
ASMu Family Suites (don't know how this one came about :confused3)
Poly CL (one night my DH said "Book it!")
AK CL (less expensive than the Poly)
Back to Poly CL (DH wants the monorail)
Poly GV (dropped the CL and added 2 nights and the Dining Plan)
Back to Poly CL (9 nights no Dining Plan)

The Polynesian CL is where we're booked now. Our balance is due May 22nd. I will not change again!

Famous last words.:goodvibes So....do YOU think I should switch back to OKW? Here is what I've done so far:

Booked BC bounceback in September(came prepared to book Poly but switched after DS loved BC and wanted Epcot resort).

Switched to SSR studio when I got home because of a wonderful double deal.
Switched to OKW Studio
Switched to SSR one bedroom
Switched to OKW one bedroom
Switched to BCV
Switched BACK to SSR one bedroom (this deal with the free dining PLUS discount is too good to pass up.....I think)
Thinking of switching Back to OKW one bedroom...more room, closer to Epcot.
How is Olivia's? Is the food good? Help! I need an intervention.

We've eaten at Olivia's several times, mostly for breakfast. It is quaint. The service has been good and the food has been good.

The one bedroom at OKW is huge. I've stayed at both SSR and OKW and although they are both great resorts IMO I would choose OKW. Here's a couple things to think about:

There are no elevators at OKW. That doesn't matter to everybody, but something to keep in mind.

OKW is a large resort, but I don't think it's as large as SSR. I would pull up a resort map and be prepared to request a building that fits your needs. We've always gotten the building we've requested, but maybe I've just had a lot of Pixie Dust.

The pool at OKW does have a nice slide, but the pool is not zero entry. That is important to us, but we have one small child.

The counter service at OKW pails in comparison to SSR. I think SSR has a great counter service/cafe area. However, that wouldn't deter me from staying at OKW, just wanted to point it out.

Like I said, I'd stay at OKW every trip if my DH wouldn't mind. It just has a special place in my heart. It's that kind of place. :cloud9:

Have any of you tried upgrading using the 4/3 deal after the deal expired?

I have ressies at POFQ using the 4/3 for May 16th-23rd. I received a nice bonus and was looking at possibly trying to stay at a deluxe for the first time, but only if I can do it with the 4/3 deal. My AAA travel agent told me it's not possible but I've heard that they aren't always the most informed travel agents.

So has anybody on here tried this?

People HAVE reported being able to switch (upgrade) their 4/3 hotels to a different hotel IF they are still available using the 4/3. Meaning, there still has to be availability using the 4/3. Give the WDTC a call and see!

I've done it too many times! Just call CRO and tell them you have a 4/3 package booked but would like to check availability at another resort. They will place you on hold and call Guest Services and come back on the line and tell you if it is/isn't available. I would suggest having a couple resort choices in mind. Good luck!

I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. I don't know if it will work since I booked through AAA but I have my AAA package and the reservation numbers that Disney sent to AAA so hopefully it will work.

In the interim, you can go to the WDW website and put your dates and resort in that you'd like to upgrade to and at least know whether there's any availability at all.

Good luck!

I decided to call just now and they told me it can be done as long as they have availability, now I just have to convince my AAA travel agent of that.

Can you go to the AAA office and sit there WHILE he/she does it? I wouldn't let it rest! Which resort are you looking at?

I don't use a local office, I use the same person I've used the past couple of trips but I've never booked with a special package or anything before. She's always been pretty good so hopefully she'll call first thing tomorrow.

I'm torn on the choices, I'm between AKL, FW, Contemporary. I think I'm leaning towards the Contemporary for the rooms.

If you already have the 4/3 deal booked your travel agent can call and try to change it for you using the same deal. However, there has to be rooms still available under that special. I changed my 4/3 reservation last Friday from CBR to AKL using the same promotion. I hope the resort you would like to stay at is available.:wizard: Have a nice trip!:)

Yep, I'm back:sad2:.

popcorn::Background: We are currently (some previous changes have occurred;)) booked first 4 nts. Poly (mil. -40%) and then 7 nts. (4/3) CR/CL, and we will be driving:car:.

:idea:DH asks this morning if we should change our last nt. at Poly to a BLT 1-bedroom suite so that it will be easier for me to do laundry mid-trip:worship:(and, he knows I thought it would be neat to stay there opening week, but I was out-voted.) It ruins about half a day for me to go to the CR laundry, so he thought being at BLT would lessen my laundry burden:laundy:.

WWYD? TIA:).
