Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I thought I was the only one that is a resort change a holic (my TA even fired me - which I don't blame them, so no flames please). The reason I would change is because I'd read resort reviews then worry myself sick about where I was going to stay, or someone in my party had a commitment come up, and I had to cancel.


Now, when I'm ready to book a resort I make my deposit and DO NOT change a thing unless it is very last minute to an upgrade if available. I've learned not to worry about it anymore, because the bottom line is I will be happy at any WDW or DL resort, and I don't spend all my time at the resort anyway.

I hope you have a wonderful trip no matter where you stay.

My craziness explained:

Last January I changed from a one bedroom at VWL,
to POR,
to a split stay POR and BWV,
to all BWV,
then to all BC
and finally to BC and BCV split.

All of this was within 30 days of check-in for a last minute trip (from WI!!!)

You will find no judgement here ...well, at least none from us who suffer from this same affliction .

It takes time and energy to come up with the perfect trip . As long as it comes out right in the end, that is all that matters .

Besides, what would we do to pass the time before our trips if we weren't second guessing ourselves and coming up with better options.

Yes, Paula, here is where you vent as many times a day as you can about whether or not you should change and then rattle on about why you changed until, finally, you go to WDW, have a ball and then it starts all over again. (I wouldn't have it any other way).

I made it through this week without making any changes (so far). This will be the first week if I make it through. Of course, I still go back and forth about SSR and NOW I'm thinking about how much we wanted to try an Epcot resort. I think what is keeping me from switching now is the fact that we have a double discount, something Disney never does. I don't want to loose it.

This is our second trip. Last trip was at Pop. I initially booked ASMo this trip and then was shocked to hear my DH say that he wanted to stay in a monorail resort this trip - did not like carrying our little one on and off crowded buses. So I booked a split stay for 2 nights at ASMo and five nights at CR. Very excited, but then heard the rumor of the pool being closed so had to make a change. Within one week we -
switched to Poly - decided the price was too steep
then AKL - standard
then AKL - savannah, why not see the animals?
then remembered we wanted a monorail in the first place and started looking at WL because it is still near MK and has the boat.
we are currently booked at WL - woods view for all seven nights (we also cancelled the whole idea of a split stay.) For now
Of course I am now second guessing this choice and am really considering going back to CR and taking a chance on the pool. I cannot stop thinking about it and can admit that I have a problem.

This is such a great thread! I am so glad to read everyone elses stores. I wish the queen would come clean and share her switches with us all.
My DH (fiance at the time) thought I was weird for switching only four times! Before I even booked I was looking at ASMu, POFQ and AKL - had them each priced and saved on the disney site. I had originally book ASMu. But I had always wanted to stay at POFQ (which is where I was going to book originally) because I thought it looked so romantic. So I called and changed to that. Then I switched back to ASMu to save money. When I heard about the construction there I had them move us to ASSp since I didn't see any big groups planning on staying there at that time. Well next I find out that ASSp also has construction so I tried switching to ASMo but they were all full and the only thing available at ASMu was a suite which was as expensive as a mod so didn't take that. And didn't want POP so ended up at Sports and we actually liked it. Didn't have a preferred room but was right next to the preferreds with a courtyard view. So it all ended up well. We don't plan on going back till 2010 but I am already trying to decide for that trip and not having much luck!

I am 5 days away from my 45 days out and making final payment.....this will stop any thoughts of changes, well, not the thoughts, but I won't make any after that payment is made! I will take tomorrow to seriously consider where I am staying, if I want to change or upgrade again and make my final decision! I do think we will stick with what we have, CR and hope we are happy with it!! I think my daily quest to try to score a CRT breakfast/lunch res on 12/17 or 12/19 has worn me down lol

For this upcoming trip in August I really want to stay at the Poly, my dream resort.

But I also want to stay at CR, 'cause it looks cool, and I really want to go back to AKL! A split stay is out - we tried that last trip and we all hated it.

If I stick with Poly, then I will probably go from a GV CL room to a GV room. I can't see spending the extra $$$ if we have DDP again.

I also want to go in the winter instead of in the summer. Why the heck am I going to WDW in the summer anyway? The whole point of going is to get warm again! But if I take my husband in March, then I can't realistically go back unless we go in December (too crowded) or over spring break (again, too crowded and too close to March trip)

I can't cancel my March trip because I did it on rented points. Maybe I could find a last minute points rental over Xmas?!?

Maybe I will find a great deal for my dates over Xmas, then we can go to Poly then (but I would rather go back to POR for Xmas) or I might find something for January?

We'd switch the same amount of times, just to less resorts . We're really thinking of taking a short trip in November because we have a 6 day break here in NJ (yes, the infamous Jersey week). We actually now have election day off also (but have to teach on Wed. and then have from Thursday until the following Wed off). It would be great to see the Christmas decorations (will they be up at the beginning of November??). If we were to go, I have NO idea where to stay. We'd most assuredly be looking for the least expensive place (perhaps swan/dolphin with the teacher discount?).

There were a lot of threads about a month ago about when the Xmas stuff was going up. I can't swear to it, but it must be between the last MNSSHP and the first MVMCP, KWIM? If I remember correctly from the thread, the resorts put theirs up at different times.

Oh, I am the queen of changing hotels! Every trip, I change my mind multiple times! DH just shakes his head when I tell him that this is the last time we will change.

I really can't help myself. This time we have AS Movies reserved and I vow not to change ressies!

I was able to book the Executive suite at the Dolphin!!! Since August, I've tried to book this and finally today, success!!!!

As soon as I get my email confirmation, I'm canceling my WDW DDP at OKW.
With the $100 cancellation penalty, I'm still saving $2000.00!

We love the S/D!!

LOL - I am the same way - I'm always so excited when I first book and then I think, think and rethink the choice - I feel so stupid !!!!

I started a thread the other day because we have been booked at YC for months now - always wanted to stay there - now 85 days to go and I'm thinking - hmmm, the BC was just remodeled OR better yet - today we started talking about the GF or even the Swan (DD does NOT want the Swan - says it's not Disney enough)!!! There is only availability for 5 of our 6 nights though at GF (1/19 - 1/24), the 23rd is booked - so that is probably not going to happen either. I wonder what is up that weekend.

Anyway, we are most likely staying where we are because we love the area and as I said, we have always wanted to stay there.
