Left for WDW & All-Star Music on Tuesday, 09/27. Used the Magical Express to save the $100 we usually spend on a towncar. We didn't get to Orlando until about 9PM so the bus was not crowded and we got to our room about an hour after landing. We were on the Dining Plan and wanted to use the counter service but the only food available was the stuff in the cases and pizza at that time of night. Heard a lot of noise outside around 2AM and thought that it was just some loud people coming back from Downtown Disney. The phone rang at 3AM - wrong number. OK, not a good start. The Music resort was nice when we walked around the next day on our way to MK and I thought the night's noise was an isolated event. More to come!
WED 09/28 MK was not real crowded. Rode some rides and had lunch at the Noodle place. A sign of food things to come. Kids went and bought turkey legs. DW and I had some noodle bowl things. Pretty tasty but too much to eat. And a dessert which the kids ate. Went to Ohanna for dinner but DW & DD were not that hungry so DS and I were the only ones that ate. Stayed with the turkey, potatoes were good (tasted like the way I like pieroghi: butter, onions, and potato), and bread pudding was a good dessert. A tiring day after an abbreviated sleep the night before. So that night the noise starts at midnight. It turned out to be a tour group who had most of the rooms on our hallway with us on the end. And the party was in the room next to us. They left that metal stopper in the door so that they could keep on coming and going and you could hear it slam every minute or two. DD did finally fall asleep and I didn't want to wake her but DW got on the phone and called the front desk to complain. They did send a couple cast members a few minutes later to tell them to keep quiet. Well that lasted about 10 minutes. About 2 AM it got worse with the laughing and singing and literally some bouncing off of the walls. Now I had had it and called the front desk. About 10 min later as about six of them were hanging around outside smoking (non-smoking building) and one sitting on the third floor railing the Disney cop shows up and they ran back to their rooms. Worked for about 10 minutes again. Some more noise and then it finally died down around 3:30 AM.
THU 09/29 Got up around 8 AM and packed and got ready to demand another room. DW was sent in (former contract negotiator). At first they said fine you can go to All-Star Sports. DW stood on the desk (politely) and ended up with a move to CBR at no cost. And a refund for the past two nights. (What? No stock options?) We wanted to get the room first since we didn't plan on returning from Epcot until late. We did get a nice room but lost half a day before getting to Epcot. The dinner at LeCellier would turn out to be the best meal of the trip. Three of us had the surf n turf and DD had sirloin. Delicious food and free (would have been $230). Had a good night's sleep.
FRI 09/30 Wow. A good sleep means a lot. Went to Restaurantasaurus for breakfast and our traditional picture purchase. Rode all of the rides and had a great day although the crowds were increasing. Used CS at the food court for dinner.
SAT 10/01 Fun day at MGM. It was strange to not see all of the Star Wars characters because we are usually there in May. The new Car Show was good although the start was delayed because of some rain for about 20 minutes. Had dinner at Spoodles for the first time. It was okay but very noisy. My rigatoni was good and DS had the seafood stew.
SUN 10/02 Went to Epcot for the day and Chef de France for dinner. It was okay. I had cod, DW had veggie lasagna, DS had chicken. It was relaxing but to me the food was nothing special. Epcot crowds were growing for the Food and Wine Festival. Went to MNSSHP at night. Kids had a great time. Lots of candy, rode some rides, different fireworks, and a good parade.
MON 10/03 Went to Typhoon Lagoon for the day. Had a good time. Hoop de Doo at night. We had been there about three years ago and the kids still seemed to love it. And it wasn't as cold as last time!
TUE 10/04 Disney Quest for about three hours after a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich. It was good except for an annoying and confused cashier. Went to MGM for dinner at Brown Derby. Good meal but I didn't think that it was worth two TS credits.
WED 10/05 Crowds at Epcot. Dinner at Teppanyaki. That was fun. Good food too.
THU 10/06 Last day. More crowds at MK. TS at Tony's for Lunch. Stayed until 5 PM and then went to Epcot for a 6 PM dinner at Alfredo's. Dodged some rain and saw more crowds.
FRI 10/07 Took Magical Express to the airport at noon after trying to use up some dining credits at the food court. Still had 2 CS and 4 snacks left.

Final analysis: Had a bad start with the neighbors at All-Star Music. A shame because the resort seemed nice too. But the move to CBR was welcomed and it seemed even nicer than the last time that we were there. The Dining Plan was worth it (Free!) but too much food for us. But we did try some food and places that we wouldn't usually. (DS had escargot). The crowds were larger than we are used to from past trips. One veteran CM at MK said that the October crowds were the largest that she had seen since 1971! 10 nights is a little more than our usual 7-8 night trips. I start to get saturated towards the end with the elbowing, line-jumping, stroller ramming, backpack bumping and even more this time with the bigger crowds. It was a nice trip but for now I'm Disneyed-out! :wave2:

You know its sad to say, but I felt the same way by the end of this trip, we came home 10/4. I don't know if people are changing or if I just never noticed it before, but people are increasingly selfish and inconsiderate. It kind of made it easier because I never went through that "almost time to go home depression". It makes it so hard when you are trying to teach your kids manners. At one point my 9 year old son was holding the door open for a stream of people. Do you know that not one person even acknowledged him much less thanked him? Another time at man in his 40's knocked over my sick 6 year old to get a seat on the bus before him. :confused3 Next year, we are going back on a cruise. I don't want to have to be rushed anywhere or fight to get on a bus. Hopefully, things will be different in 2007.

Thanks for the great trip report. As far as the rude people go, it's what DW and I call the "ME" generation. As in you're welcome to go first after ME. It seems like people have lost all respect for one another. Just my two cents, thanks. Maine :firefight

Thanks for the great report. I appreciate that you kept it concise. I could get all the info I needed without taking 15-20 min. to sort through the details. Rude people are everywhere. Wouldn't it be fun if WDW had a DISers only night?

I loved your to-the-point report... I may try this when I come back in November (I just can't seem to find the time to make a full trip report when I return from my trips!!!) Although, I do like the stories that I've read on other posts just as much as this!

I'm sad to hear stories like some posted here... I'm an adult (30 yo) without children of my own yet and I love to visit WDW!!! Each time I visit I try to say special things (a comment for a little girl in a princess dress) or give little gifts (I like to trade pins and have given a few away to different children when they have made a comment or even done something nice!!!)

I'm happy to hear that Disney compensated you as well as they did!!! I stayed at POP last November and didn't have any problems, but I've read about the noise and large groups of children and prefer not to stay at the Value resorts unless I absolutely have to (or I have children that would like to try it!!!)

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Enjoyed your report! I think I'd like to borrow your wife when I go purchase my next vehicle.hehe

Our last day of vacation was 9/30 and boy were the crowds moving in! Great trip report. I didn't encounter any rude people except for a woman at Sci-Fi who cut in front to give her name for her ADR. It was like "H-e-l-l-O :wave2: you don't see me standing here lady!?" Oh well, we still were seated fast although after them.

Great report.

Good for you for letting them know about the noise right away. You should not have to put up with that. And so many people "grin & bear it" and do not enjoy their vacation, and come home and complain. You are my hero.

Great Trip report. I also send in the DW when I want things done. She is originally from NY (Long Island to be exact), and can really get things moving.

I also have noticed the increase in rudeness. I think it has to do with fact that Disney has become so popular that there is no longer any "low crowd" time.
