Resort Change by Disney

If they courtesy upgrade people wouldn't that mean that everyone would get one?..
Wouldn't people be upset if someone staying at All Stars, gets a room at a higher price hotel and you dont get a discount or upgrade?
That’s tricky.

We are paying about $450ish a night for our room at a deluxe resort. If during a regular Disney trip I found out the people on the room next to us had been upgraded from a value resort for $180 a night I would think the Disney Magic was fantastic and good for them.

However....if I found out during this trip we are paying $450ish a night and the rest of the hallway is paying $180 bc they all got upgraded, I would be upset about it, and I’m sure that makes me a jerk but I can’t be the only one.

Interesting theory. That would possibly open up BC for Mod/Value “upgrades/moves” because of a reduced amenity.
Yes, but for many YC/BC people the Poly is a downgrade. We see it as such. Many on the CL thread and YC/BC thread do as well.

can walk to two parks and boardwalk area, much better pool, many many food options within short walk, skyliner... Poly just isn't the same. Especially after they announced a modified F and W at Epcot.

I totally agree. I'm a jerk too. I booked our Deluxe cl stay RO with a 25% discount. I was livid at disney for not giving me the 35% that others got with the free dining recovery deal ( had two canceled RO reservations during closure). They get the better discount and date flexibility and I get lesser discount or rack rate. 10% more off is a fair, nice amount on a week deluxe stay.

With the reduced amenities at all the resorts I think a better discount should be applied to ALL originally RO reservations - pools closed or limited access, room service disruption, who know about resort transportation, etc. That's fine that I know ahead of time, but give me a credit/more of a discount in line with others since I am not getting what I paid for and just for some sort of fairness/customer service we appreciate you.

I don't begrudge the upgrades at all. I just want disney to do some fair things to equalize the differences in treatments in how they handled this closure thing and now closed resorts issue.

Someone on twitter said they got the Pop to Deluxe upgrade with 40% in July? Seriously. Wonderful for them. Not mad at them. But I was told rack rate.

I know it’s not ideal. None of this is and there are a lot of compromises to navigate for everyone.

I wish I knew what resort I am being moved to before reservations choices on Monday.
My choices would be based on our location.
Hopefully we will be able to change them as necessary. With 4 days for just resort guests to get settled, and people who will also want to be changing based on their resort, maybe even if initially certain things are gone we could snap them up later. I personally have no idea what to emotionally prepare myself for. I could see it being really easy to get our selected days but I could also see it being rough.

I am end of July staying at YC . No clue to where they are moving us🤷‍♀️

Yes, great for them! Pixie dust.

We were supposed to go in April then May. We usually stay DVC with rented points or Deluxe/Moderate with AP discount. When those two didn't happen, I knew I better get more on the books, just in case of this exact scenario. So glad I did. I held June 27, July 11 and July 25th (only weeks we can go due to work). Just grabbed Pop Century, just so we would have a home and I didn't want to hold up a ton of funds with the one night room deposits. Now I will get what I would most likely have booked anyway, but for way less money.

Based on the callbacks for restaurant CMs: https://www.wdwinfo.com/news-storie...s-receiving-recall-notices-to-return-to-work/ it looks like they are planning at least to open Pop for values, but nothing for moderates yet (well they are calling back some CMs to CSR, but only to restaurants in GDT, which is where the NBA will be and probably for the longest).

Be very cautious with using call backs as a guide and right now, no confirmation of any other resorts opening soon.

I think that Animal Kiingdom Lodge will be the first to open due to DVC Jambo House.

DVC has told owners that as long as there is room to move them to Kidani, Jambo will remain closed. So, I don’t think that will be a factor for Disney to open their side

My cousin and her family have a reservation at Jambo in late July. Her travel agent said she was “100% sure” Jambo would be open. I told my cousin that she should be prepared for Kidani.

The callbacks this week we’re for June 28th.

they could very well post callbacks next week or the following and open all the resorts for park open.

I called today because I am confused how I can start park reservations Monday for my July 24th trip when Caribbean beach is not open. CM thought it was really strange that they’ve heard nothing about resorts but sounded like we might hear something on Monday based on what other posters shared.

first few weeks are probably hard for Disney to forecast - maybe they’re going to open a moderate and value and consolidate anyone goin in those categories.CM I spoke to said there was still availability at DVC properties for July so just told me to keep checking emails and to hang tight.

I really hope they disclose something about the resort situation (besides TA whispers) before the park reservation system drops. That is going to be such a phone line mess for a few days on it's own, it would be so much better to knock out a lot of the resort changes this weekend.

Couldn’t agree more. And in 2020 when I’m ready to do everything through the app, I hear people have to call in to get dining reservations. Crazy!

I am wondering if they have run out of rooms to move people to and are just picking them up from cancellations or pushing to open another resort.

In the rumor and news thread, there's a person in November who was moved from all star music suite to a villa. That's the latest out I've seen yet.
