Resort Change by Disney

I have a trip for July 9th and haven't heard yet 🤦‍♀️ My TA tried to call for us but since we stay past the 11th they wouldn't let us confirm or modify yet. Hopefully next week we can get it figured out.

are you planning on keeping your dates? keep calling, someone in the other thread staying july 8-22 or something like that was able to get moved to dvc.

So Riveriera was the resort selected for YC members to go to, thus that was your only choice vs cancel? And POP went to SSR?
If you wanted to keep your dates, yes. The options were: modify to a DVC resort/FT wilderness at a later date and pay the difference, keep your dates and accept whatever they give you, no choice, or cancel. PP chose the middle option, and got Riviera.

The Values and Moderates seem to have gotten a mix of FT Wilderness cabins, SSR, or OKW.

I did call again this morning. No dice. They compared my AP discounted room at the YC to rack rate at Riviera, essentially taking away the discount from the AP.

I was curious to see how they were going to handle people at Deluxe resorts since I don't recall anyone posting who was originally booked at a Deluxe and kept their dates. I assumed the changes would be more lateral than an upgrade (e.g. just getting a 1 BR villa at a DVC resort) but I also thought they would apply any discounts on the original room to the rack rate at whatever alternative they offered (not to mention factoring in the loss of CL) and refund any difference. I don't begrudge those who were "upgraded" at no cost, since Disney is only opening DVC and FW, but downgrading someone with no refund is pretty bad.

They have consistently refused to honor any discount we had on every reservation we’ve lost. I assumed though that they would not compare my discounted rate to rack rate for purposes of refunding.

I have no problem with those in cheaper resorts getting better moves, but I’m tired of them penny pinching on the guests paying the most to start with. This is just one of the many times they’ve done this with us since March.

There have been lots of reports of them moving to SS or OKW studios for values. OKW at least has 2 beds.
Exactly. That's why I'm saying FW or OKW are not bad moves at all, but trying to cram 4 adult bodies into an SSR studio, well, let's just say that we might need more than pixie dust lol.

To be honest we aren't entirely sure. It's a girls trip with some friends so we only have one other set of dates to modify to. We want to see what we get and then decide. We are at BC so we could provide some insight as to what is offered for Deluxe. Bummed that the main pool won't be open though, so I half hope we get moved to another resort.

I sure hope not. POP to an SSR studio is a definite downgrade (2 queens to 1 queen and a double-sized sleeping surface).

Correct me if im wrong, but I'm not sure if POP to SRR is definite downgrade. I have only stayed at SSR once and at POP once.

Certainly, if you have 4 adults, 2 queens vs 1 queen and a sleeper sofa is downgrading. But for only 2 adults, or 2 adults and child (like us), having the sleeper sofa that you can put away during the day is very convenient. It gives you a lot of extra "walking around" space. Also,, isn't POP rooms sft about 250 or 260 sf? And I think SSR studios are 350 or 360sf? That's a definite upgrade. Also, the kitchenette is a convenience. Having a mini fridge, sink, toaster, microwave, etc is helpful. The villas also have free laundry facilites (for those so inclined lol).

I know the pool at POP is nice, but the ones at SSR are as well, with water slides. Maybe the food court is better at POP? It is bigger.

I know OKW studio is 390sft

Maybe I'm wrong, but SSR as an option instead of a value resort is not that bad IMHO. Unless of course, as a PP said, you have 4 adults. In that case you would need that extra bed and not a sleeper.

Sorry...I would think one has nothing to do with the other.

Received the stay, change, cancel email this morning
Was unable to access bookings on manage my booking
Not been able to speak to a cm-waits of nearly 3 hours.

Our trip isn't until October (we're in the uk)
I wonder if they are working through bookings on a different schedule

Try using online chat so you aren't calling internationally and holding for hours. They can maybe get a priority number for you or call you back.

They are likely handling UK as a special group, since international travel is problematic right now.

I think they are trying to get a handle on who is coming or canceling, and who wants to move dates.

Completely understand what you're saying! I replied to another poster saying that we do have 4 adults, and that's why SSR would be a massive downgrade. We're not really pool people, so that's kind of a non-factor for us.

Just got off the phone with a CM.

Our July 5-17 POP trip got moved to a Deluxe Studio at Saratoga Springs. We were not able to get the Park Hopper portion refunded at this point, since Park Hopper was required for our Free Dining from January. Hopefully that amount will be able to be taken off soon.

Still not sure we are going to keep it. I guess we will have to decide in the next 2 weeks before the final payment is due. If we don't, we will just move it to later in this year until we can book next summer.

My vacation is July 7-14 and I haven’t received any confirm, modify or cancel email and neither has two other families that we are traveling with. Maybe Disney is just reaching out to people in other countries? Each time my TA and myself have contacted Disney we are told they are only working with people checking out by July 11. Hoping I here something Monday. I’m at the point where my airline won’t refund my flight if I cancel or change it:(

i thought they weren’t dealing with anyone yet with check out past the 11th. I’m the 11th-18th and my TA called and they wouldn’t deal with us yet. Glad you got moved just confused about inconsistency. Maybe it’s bc of the July 5th check in. Just confused 🤪

What resort are you at? Maybe they don’t know the status for that resort?

They started dealing with UK guests today or yesterday. Someone posted an email, but I can't find where that was or which thread. The dates go a beyond 7/11, but I can't remember if they are for the rest of the year.

It shouldn't, but just the way it is with their take it or leave it policy. Take it or leave it, if it's an upgrade, is not so bad. I don't consider it an upgrade though when the "upgrades" are nothing I wanted. I don't care that there's a kitchen or laundry and I don't care that it has a separate bedroom. So it's a lateral move for me at best, only I was expected to pay for something I did not get- CL. They couldn't send the message that they don't really want guests any stronger- and that's a horrible message for a business to send. If they didn't want guests, they shouldn't have opened.
