If I book my resort online through Disney's website, but then decide to completely cancel, is there any kind of penalty?

My husband and I are looking to go December 2 - 6. I'd like to book the room now just so we have it taken care of. If something would come up where we can't get the days off from work or we decide to go the week after that, can I cancel my reservation with a full refund (including deposit)?

As long as you cancel more than 5 days out you will get your money back.

Yes, as long as it is a room only reservation. If you book a vacation package then you have to cancel more than 45 days in advance.

Room-only reservation - you get full refund if cancelled by 5 days prior to check-in. After that, you lose deposit. Package reservation (room plus tickets and/or dining), must cancel by 45 days prior to reservation or you lose $200 deposit. You can re-schedule the trip to avoid losing the deposit, however if you are within 45 days of check-in. Change fee within 45 days of check-in is $50, but they usually waive it if your new package cost is the same or more than original package.

And now you can cancel online on the disney booking site as well. So it's SUPER easy. You used to have to call and talk to a CM, and they were actually always really friendly about it. But now it's just a click and confirm.
