Anyone done this before?

I'm going solo for work in August and might entertain this idea if I'm bored enough one evening. Plus it might be an interesting way to strike up some good conversations.

Anyone have any good recommendations or bar routes I should take? How late are the resort bars usually open until?

Thanks in advance :)

On our last trip to "The World", in June, My boyfriend and I followed the advice of some fellow DISers and did the Monorail Drink-a-thon, which was really fun. We took the Monorail from the Contemporary and stopped at each resort to try the bars. I think each bar was opened until 12:00 AM. Our final stop was Mizers Lounge at the Grand Floridian we had the best time there... Good Luck

I've never been, but I'd really like to try the Victoria Falls bar at the AKL. I'm a huge fan of South African wines and Amarula, a delicious cream liquer that can be hard to find. I'm hoping they serve it at Boma, too!

The Port Orleans has a fun piano bar, the All stars and Pop have pool bars, andas mentioned earlier, the Animal Kingdom Lodge has a nice quiet bar. All are open til 12:00. You will have to head to the boardwalk for action until 2:00. I think the monorail idea is a good one, as is the World Showcase beer tour. :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1

I'm going to second the drinking around the world (EPCOT beer/wine tour)...its a great way to sample different types and you can always spot other groups enjoying the travel....I just don’t suggest it during food and wine fest.....way to many booths and you'll never make it out alive

boy you really can't do it during the food/wine festavial - but definitely still worth going to....

both sides of PO (R & FQ) have a live person in their lounges to entertain you.

where are you staying?

the monrail resorts are fun....

I am staying at the POFQ for a week and did not know about the piano bar there. I will definitely check it out when I arrive as I love that type of atmosphere.

A couple of the days/nights I won't be going to the parks, so I thought seeing the different resorts and having a drink there would be fun, but I wasn't really sure about the Epcot game everyone keeps mentioning.

Do people really drink at all the different countries? That sounds pretty crazy to me and I'm curious how many people actually complete this challenge. Isn't there something like 10 or 11 countries?

I'll have to think about that one.

it's definitely possible. Normally it's a whole day type of thing. Somthing you do over 6-8 hours and not 1-2 (if you can get around World Showcase that fast!)

The Monorail bar tour is a much easier challenge, though.

Good Luck!!

The monorail tour sounds great. I go to the Poly all the time for a drink called the Sunset... awsome! :cool1:

DH and I have a goal of eventually having drinks at every WDW resort bar! Luckily we're DVC members, so we have plenty of time to work on it. :teeth:

In any case, so far we've managed CR, Poly, GF (the Monorail tour), BW, BC, POFQ, WL, FW, and ASMo (well the pool bar there anyway).

Let's see if I can plan an intinerary for you! :drinking1 From POFQ, you could take the boat to OKW, SSR, and downtown Disney. From downtown, you could bus to Boardwalk and then walk to BC, YC, Swan and Dolphin. From the last resort you visit there, take the bus to MK and monoral to CR, Ploy, and GF. Monorail back to MK and then either bus back to POFQ or if you can still stand take the boat to WL and Fort Wilderness (bars at both places). Hmmmm, maybe you should break this up into a couple of days! :rotfl:

Thanks Starshine...I am going to take your advice and try to conquer them all! I'll let you know how I did after my trip :rolleyes1

Take pictures please! :rotfl2:

Why pictures? So I can incriminate myself...

I was also thinking that I might need a sponsor after my week at WDW because it's been suggested that I try the drinks around the world thing at Epcot as well.

If anyone might be able to carry me home one of these nights in August please let me know in advance :rotfl:

Hmmm the monorail challenge we have yet to try that! Drinking around the world yes, did that (and have the pictures and video to embarrass ourselves again after the fact!) Now as to drinking around during the wine and food festival…I think it would be tough but I am sure if we try hard enough it can be accomplished!! After all last time we did make it to all but 2.….we have to try again next year. :teeth:

Yup, exactly! ;) Actually it's just really funny to see how things progress. DH and I have "before and after" pictures from the Brewer's Dinner we went to at the F&WF a couple of years ago, and what a riot! We walked back to BCV and I'm surprised we didn't get lost in the woods somewhere... :rotfl:

I would love to do this on our upcoming trip since we aren't bringing the kids for our 6 night 7 day *do the World together* trip.

I am just picturing getting on the shakey monorail or bus system after a night of drinking with some screaming kids!....YACK! LOL

Maybe they have a secret drunk tank at the back of the monorail that they throw unruly adults without children in when they get out of hand :rotfl2:

Anyone try the margarita's at the Mexican pavillion???

Very Very Good.

Brunette

Have to agree they've gotten better (and now have a big new stand)
we have a tradition of going to mexico getting a margarita and going on the boat ride ...(of course once in a while they tell us no drinks...boo..but that is few and far between)...
