Resort availability

How can a resort be unavailable for 12/30 and 12/31 of 2016, when you can not even book those dates yet.

Deluxe studio at VWL is not available, nothing at the Grand Floridian.

I understand Disney only sells 51 weeks worth of points, but it seems odd that they total shut members out on new years.

It is unavailable because you cannot book those dates. When those dates come within the 11 month window + 7, you can see their availability. In other words, if you can't book it, 100% available = unavailable.
Check back tomorrow and the 30th should be available.

ah makes sense, i wasn't thinking like that, just saw it on the resort availability tool and was thrown by it

The system will always show anything more than 11+ 7 out as unavailable. You may see an actual fault in the system soon. It has had change of the month problems, showing everything in a new month as unavailable as long as you are still booking days in the prior month. In other words, come January 26, you may find Jan 1 as unavailable when it actually is not. Same may occur January 27 for Jan 1 and 2, and that may continue until you get to Feb 1 when first week of Jan will be shown correctly. That error has happened monthly since the new system began.

And in the evenings it won't show availability for the month you are in, only subsequent months. I assume they have some update going but it's another odd glitch.
