This might seem like a weird question. But on the dvcmember website, does the "check availability" button make an actual call to the inventory database, or is a subset loaded when the page is loaded.

Just seems to respond super quickly, and I want to be sure I shouldn't be refreshing the whole page when I am hitting that button every few minutes :)

Do you just re-hit that button intermittently? Or do you refresh the whole page? ( As long as your session is still good of course )

The booking engine is real time. The RAT 60 day availability link is a snapshot - it tells you when the list was last updated.

I do not know for sure if the RAT is real-time or not - while I suspect that it is, I would not use it if I were intending to grab something right away. I'd use the booking engine for that.

And I would doubt it is because you'd want to reserve the live database calls for booking and not risk performance with people merely checking.

It seems to be pretty darn close to real-time to me. I've seen rooms disappear as I book them.

My impression is it's live when you click the search. I've seen it change when doing it. No need to reload the page.

It is not always completely accurate. When I was looking in February to book a long weekend for my daughter at the end of April, it said that there were 1 bedrooms at BWV available for three nights. I quickly went to booking engine and they were not. Went back to RAT and it was still showing. We ended up getting AKV, and then did the wait list for BWV, which did, in fact come in about a month later. So, when looking at that, as mentioned, use it as an idea of what could be available!
