Resort attire?

Is going to Vero Beach similar to going on a cruise as far as dinner wear goes? Do people wear shorts in the evening, or to dinner?

As I type this, all I can think of is the play "Don't Dress for Dinner" ohmygosh!

Hi, Bobbi. Only speaking for myself here, but if it is warm enough I always wear shorts to dinner (both at VB and WDW). I should expound on that, and say that I wear Docker shorts, usually with a belt, and a collared polo shirt.
I would feel comfortable wearing this ensemble everywhere from the Yachtsman Steakhouse to Shutters.

Casual all the way. The polo shirt/khaki ensemble is about as dressy as it gets for men -- choose your own outfit accordingly. If you'd like to wear a sundress/skirt that fits in. If you want to wear casual (but nice) pants/shorts outfits that's fine, too. The same applies for most restaurants outside the resort as well. Seems like the whole state of Florida has very few places where dressing up is expected.

The fanciest I have ever dressed for a meal at a WDW location (have not dined at V&A) is a pair of pressed black khakis, loafers and a black turtleneck

I was dining at Bistro de Paris and wanted to appear at least somewhat French for the evening

We usually go on a cruise for spring break, we have booked one for next year already. However, buying DVC last fall, we wanted to see Vero Beach and we cancelled the cruise we had planned. This was much easier to pack for!

Other than Victoria and Albert's at the GF, anywhere else is casual.

As for us, we dress the same in WDW all over. Touring clothes are also our dining clothes.

I think maybe before kids I dressed up slightly a few times like a linen dress or something, but now we only go where our kids can eat, too. Minnie ears included.

Now for our anniversary trip next February I might get crazy and pack a skirt!
