I understand that each person needs to be present with ID.

Is that just for those checking luggage, or for every member of the party?

For example: We are a family of 3, but only checking 2 bags, both in my name. Do all 3 of us need to be present?

I checked in the entire family including DH. I called ahead of time to ask if they needed to be present and was told no, we had a rental car that needed to go back to the airport and DH was going to take it and I would check us in. The Cm told me to make sure they signed the back of their room keys immediately.

You are asking about checking in at the airline counter at the resort when you are LEAVING the resort, right? The previous poster is talking about when you are checking IN at the resort.

When you check in at the airline counter, you will get your boarding pass. So if you are not there (at the airline counter at the resort), you wil not get a boarding pass and you would have to check in at the airport.

They've actually updated the policy. It's airline dependant, and I'm pretty sure now all airlines do not require everyone to be present.
