Hi everyone,

I'm heading down to WDW in April to take advantage of the Spring offer. This is going to be a mother/daughter trip and right now I have a WL club level room booked. I'm having doubts about this though as I really don't see why I would need the concierge...I love to plan Disney trips. Also we booked a DDP to have the meals pre-paid, so am I really going to use the lounge. I booked it in the first place because the idea of CL intrigued me and this is the first time that I only needed one standard room. The last two trips I've been on we have gone with 1 bedroom villas for the sleeping/privacy space. So I've stayed at SSR and BLT (after getting moved from VWL due to construction).
I've been looking at the WDW room options though and I'm seeing that I can stay at the Poly in a deluxe studio and even a GF lagoon room too for around the same price. Poly is actually cheaper. Having stayed on the monorail my last trip, it is a huge draw to do that again.
I've been reading through tons of reviews about CL rooms. People really seem to enjoy the experience, but I keep coming back to the do I really need it or do I just want to try it kind of attitude. I really feel like I'm on the verge of changing my reservation, but I keep feeling like I'm going to miss out on something.
So, would you keep the CL WL or switch to a different deluxe resort. This is the first trip my Mom and I have ever been able to go on alone because my dad is going to be on his own trip for work, we both would hate the idea of leaving him behind. So I really want to make this a special all be it short trip. Thanks so much for any insight. I really appreciate all the advice this forum offers.

I'd drop the dining plan. If you want to try CL, it would be nice to have a place to go in the morning for coffee while the other is still sleeping. You'd have breakfast plus evening snacks. If you like to have some wine or beer, that is a plus. Desserts and cordials are there too.

I guess it depends on what you want, but I wouldn't do the dining plan and CL, as that's a lot of food offered.

If you're in the parks a lot, though, and not going back to the resort in the afternoon for the appetizers, then it would be a waste.

I would move and drop the dining plan. If you've ever had it before you know it's tons of food, more than we've ever been able to eat and after running the numbers, we actually come out better without it. If you want the pre-paid feeling, buy some gift cards in the amount of the plan and use those, you still feel like you don't need to look at prices and if you have left over, you can spend it on other things. I've never felt CL was worth the few snacks you get and like you, I don't need the conceirge service. I've tried all three ways, and usually end up having a better experience with either a studio or a deluxe room and paying for my food OP.

If you aren't going to utilize the concierge services or eat the food in the lounge, it's not worth it IMHO to stay CL at WL when you could have a bigger room and easier access to parks by staying at Poly or GF. Personally, with two adults, I would pick GF LV over a Poly studio so you can have two real beds to sleep in. We stayed GF LV in February and it was fantastic. The rooms have just been refurbished, so they looked brand new. We stayed on the 4th floor of Boca Chica and had a view of the fireworks if we walked out our balcony and looked to the left. Poly is lovely, too, and, from the studios, you will have easy access to the TTC for the EP monorail. You really can't go wrong with Poly or GF, but I would definitely drop CL at WL and go with one of these.

Assuming you're going into the parks, and since you mentioned it's a short trip, I'd say switch to Poly or GF. Both will put you on the monorail so getting to MK is easy. Plus, if you're not going to really utilize the CL why bother. Both are nice hotels with a cool atmosphere that will be fun for you and your Mom. WL is actually one of my favorite hotels, but I think Poly or GF would be especially fun for a girls weekend. Up to you on the DDP. It's not always monetarily worth it, but it is nice to have one less thing to think about. Plus, plenty of snacks! :) Have fun! I always love a good girls trip. We (mom, my sister and I) went up to AKL for our last one and didn't even go to the parks! Just brunched and relaxed by the pool.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I ended up booking the GF LV. I talked it over with my Mom and we decided that was the way to go. I think that just writing out the post made me start to lean away from the CL. It was very helpful that you all backed up my thoughts that CL wasn't worth it for this trip. I Never thought that I would stay at the GF because of the price, but seeing as we are only going for 3 nights and with the discount it made it attainable. So thanks everyone again, and DisneyWishes14, I'm glad you had a fantastic time at GF LV, that made me really excited.
