Credit, debit, and gift cards all process the same way. Could easily show as a redemption even thought the funds would have been in limbo on a cancelled transaction until the system reconciled itself. If there is no record of two fully processed tickets, then one of those swipes would have been cancelled creating a hold. Manager should have easily been able to do a bit of detective work on the transaction log to figure it out. Had a former employee do the same exact thing. Processed a gift card, cancelled it, and then tried to run it through again. Usually takes a few business days to sort it all out. Absolutely stinks since there is no immediate on the spot resolution. But yeah, your server or whoever ran the card goofed it up.
