(Resolved) Borrowed Points Question

DVC experts help! So I had borrowed 75 2014 points for a vacation, but had to cancel and rebook to a different time which only required 70 points. Now my account says I had 5 borrowed points that I have to use in my 2013 use year. I'm not surprised by this. My question is, I have a September vacation booked using 2013 points. If I call up member services will they be able to reallocate the points used for my September reservation to use my 5 borrowed points, so that I can then bank 5 2013 points?

Okay, just wanted to update with an answer for future Dis'ers. I called member services and they were able to easily reallocate my borrowed points to my existing September reservation which left me with 5 points that I can now bank into 2014. The cast member (Alissa) was very knowledgeable with my request and acted like it was no big deal to do.

I think they would have to cancel your res and rebook it to do that . Which I am pretty sure it can be done , but a risk you loose that reservation when they cancel till they rebook . IMO. Just eat the 5 points . But it worth a call to MS .

I plan on calling in the morning. I wouldn't want to risk losing my september reservation because it's a AKV Value 1br.

Point reallocation does not require cancellation and rebooking. The only issue is whether you used the home resort booking advantage for the September trip. If you did, then the 5 borrowed points would need to be AKV points. If you did not use the home resort booking window, then the 5 points can be from any resort. A word of warning: some MS agents are more familiar with point reallocation than others. If you call and get someone who seems uninformed, then ask for a supervisor or call back.

Thanks! Sounds like good news. I only own AKV points, so hopefully it will be straight forward when I call member services.
