I was wondering if anyone can offer some help with resizing photos in order to put them online. I uploaded some pics to my photobucket account but i have the feeling that they are to large. The pics are taken were 5 megapixels set at fine setting on my camera. using corel paint shop XI any help would be appreciated dont want to get yelled at for pics being to big here is an example

In your Photobucket account, select the edit button above the pic you want to resize. It will then give you the option of what size you want to resize it to. Choose message boards.

It is as easy as that!!!

In photobucket, right above where the boxes are to enter the pics you want to upload is a thing that says "max image size". Click on where it says options in parentheses beside that and set it to 800X600 or lower. Mine is set to 800X600 which is the max for the photography contest on here so I left it at that.

Once that is set for you, your photos should upload and be set to that image size automatically.

You can also resize your photos ahead of time, which will make uploading quicker and give you a little more control. Irfanview (which is free, there's a link in my signature) has a very nice batch function that can quickly and easily resize all your photos to a given size. If you're interesting, I can write up a quick tutorial for you.

Thanks Groucho for the offer but have corel paint shop which you can use to resize your photos after you edit them so think i will just keep tinkering with it till i find the settings for the pictures that i feel comfortable with but again thanks for the help

Just for reference, each photo hosting site handles resizing differently. I use Smugmug. The allow you to upload a photo at any resolution you want. They then make it available in four sizes (small, medium, large, and original). I think you can turn off "original" if you don't want people to download a full resolution copy.

decide what size youwant to upload your pics,

then take one picture.

then click start script recording,

then image resize, then save script recording

give the script a name you'll remember such as upload resize..

then closeout that pic, I usually don't save the changes..

then select file batch process...pic the pics you want to resize

then pick the script you just created

save mode...copy

type...jpeg..

and folder tosave to, I usually make this a subfolder of the folder the roigianls are in, the click start,,,once the batch process is complete you can upload your pics to yoru storage site..
