We are doing a 3 day stay in San Diego after our visit to DL. Has anyone stayed at this Residence Inn? If so, would you share your experiences -- good and bad?

We're just not sure where the best place to stay is. This one looked like a pretty good value.

I have not stayed at the hotel but I can tell you about the area.

Located near shopping malls, it's not near any of the major San Diego attractions. Allow about 15 minutes to the zoo, 15 minutes to SeaWorld, 20 minutes to the beaches and La Jolla, 10 minutes to downtown San Diego.

While on the trolly line you will still need a car to get around (our trolley doesn't really go anyplace useful). Area is safe, centrally located, high density for hotel rooms. Some major chains to eat at around the area but none of the San Diego standouts are within walking.

If the price is right, it's a perfectly fine place to stay.

Thanks, Purrkins, for the info regarding the area. We will have a rental car -- so it won't be too much of a problem.

Wondering if anyone else has anything to say about the actual hotel?

We actually stayed at that Residence Inn a few years ago when family visited from out of town. We took a 2-room suite.

When I first saw the building I was a little disappointed, but once inside I was really pleased with our accommodations. They do serve a hot breakfast, though nothing fancy. The kids enjoyed the pool, and we enjoyed evenings together in the living room.

I'd have no problem staying here again.
