Has anyone ever stayed at the Residence Inn - Placentia, CA? We will be on the end of our trip (we are starting in San Fran. and working our way down) and thought a "Penthouse" 2 queen. 1 sofa bed 2 baths & 2 floors would be a nice way to end our long trip together - Mom & Dad DS 9 & DD 6.

Any comments?

Just got back from DL and we stayed at the Residence Inn and had the same type of room. I am a Marriott Rewards member and stay at the Residence all the time. It is a wonderful hotel no matter what city you are in. During the week, they serve dinner for free and also every morning they have bagels, donuts, cereal and all kinds of breakfast stuff.

The penthouse has an upstairs so if climbing stairs does not appeal to you, ask for the 2 bedroom suite w/ hot tub. It is all on one floor but costs a little more. The hot tub is on a little private patio... very nice. Some of the Residence Inn's do not have this room but it does not hurt to ask.

The room you are staying in is usually called the Penthouse Exception. Ask them if they have one better and how much more does it cost. Sometimes they are the same price.

Be Aware!!! Marriotts are horrible about giving your room away to Rewards Club members who show up unannounced or decide to stay longer. If this happens, make sure you throw a fit in the lobby and they will take care of you. Like I said, I am a member but I've seen people show up probably a dozen times only to find out they do not have a room or do not have the room they reserved. The ones that complain either get upgraded for no more money or are given a smaller room at no charge. I've even seen them send people to another hotel and pay the bill for them along with a gift certificate at a nearby restaurant. Just wanted to warn you.

Montana - Thanks for all the great info. I will go NUTS if I get there and my room has been given away, especially since I have booked it 8 months in advance!!!!

I'll check out the other rooms.

Thanks again!

Sorry Montana - One more question. You mentioned dinner for free? I know they serve breakfast, is the dinner only for Rewards members or for everyone? If so, what kind of dinners?

Thanks

The dinner is for everyone who stays at the hotel. It starts at 5pm and runs to 7pm. They even serve beer and wine if you like for free also. :D

I would always go down and get the food and take it back to the room so we could eat at our own little kitchen table with peace and quiet.

The one we stayed at was on S. Clementine St. It is about 300 yards away from DL.

Since your ressies are pretty far away, you may want to join the club then call the hotel and give them your Rewards Member number. It cant hurt and it is free to join. www.marriottrewards.com

Hope this helps.

One more thing:

Some of the Residence Inn's only serve the free dinners on the slow nights of the week (Tue, Wed, Thr). Others serve it every night.

Breakfast is always every morning.

Montana -

THANKS!!!!! for everything. If there is anything I can ever help you out with in NY or NYC, please let me know.
