I have heard alot of good things about this hotel, but I am wondering if anyone can tell us how the pool water temp. is? Our kids love to swim, but won't stay in the pool long if it's too cold!

Well it was Nov. 2001 when we were there and the hotel was very new. We loved the hotel! The rooms, free breakfast, location etc. However the only reason we haven't been back is that the pool was like an iceburg! We couldn't get in past the steps. We are from il. so we are not cool weather wimps at all and it was actually one of the warmest Nov. trips we have ever taken and we still couldn't swim in it. Temps were about high of I would guess high 70's low 80's. We were there for one week and we never saw anyone in the pool. Lost of people in the hot tub though. One morning while eating a late breakfast we watched a family unload all there pool stuff onto chairs and sit and lather sun lotion on both kids then when they went to get in!! Well they picked up all there stuff and left!

My DH went one day and complained to the manager and he said it is not a heated pool and that was that. Well of course we didn't expect he could do anything about it but we wanted to let them know we weren't happy to be there for a week and have non park days planned for swimming and not be able to swim! When the temps outside were definatly warm enough for it.

Now if you are there in the summer this may not be a problem for you. I don't mean to scare you off but we haven't been back because of that and my DH loves to stay at Marriott hotels because that is where he has to stay when he travels for work and we like to earn all those points!
Maybe you will get more responses or call the hotel directly and ask them about it.

Thanks for the info, LisaRay! :D I was wondering about this, so I just called the hotel directlly, and they insist that the pool is heated! Do you think that the pool has changed? I should clarify that the R.I. that I'm interested in is on Marbella Palms Court, just off Palm Parkway.

Any chance that anyone reading this has stayed there recently and can share their experience? Hopefully things have changed with the pool!

O.K. I've been doing more searching about this and just read about dog urine smells at this hotel. Can anyone who has stayed there recently help "clear the air"?

Yep, the one near palm parkway is where we stayed!
Don't know if they have changed or not. Like I said the hotel was newly opened when we were there. However I think it had been opened since summer and we were there in Nov. So I would think they were done with it. It certainly seemed all finished of course they had fairly new landscaping but thats it. Maybe they had complaints and changed it.
I would try calling and speaking with a manager. Say that you know someone who was there a couple/few years ago ( nov. 2001) and the pool was definatly not heated then. See what they say. Maybe if it something they added later he/she would know and maybe a front desk person you were speaking with wouldn't know about or wasn't there back then. Thats all i can think of. Sorry.
We didn't have any trouble with the rooms at all though. ( course it was newer then though) Nice set up and if that pool IS heated please please please report back because we would stay there again!
I didn't mean to frighten you off I just wouldn't want someone with young kids to go through what we did having kids stay for a week and want to swim but couldn't!

I called again last night and the front desk said that it really was heated. I also asked about the dog odors issue, and thay said that people who bring pets are charged an extra $75.00 for carpet/furniture cleaning. She said that the cleaning is done every time a pet stays.

I also did a search and found some recent reviews on Trip Advisor. The most recent review- from this past April 11th- said that it had a warm pool! I was down at WDW then, and the weather was abnormally cold, so I'm sure that the pool temp. wasn't a result of warm weather.

Hope this info. helps!:)

Well I am very glad to hear that!!
I really hope I didn't scare you! However, the post did ask about the pool and that was our experience with the pool and the reason we haven't been back.

So I am glad to hear it is heated and even though we are staying at Pop Century in Nov. I think since we have a car we may drive over and stick our hand in and make sure so that we can stay there again sometime. So much space!! Now you know by the time Nov. gets here and we are excited to be on our trip I will forget all about doing this! ;)
Also this is a leason that you can't always believe what you read! One person may have on experience while someone else's is completly different.

Hope you have a great trip!
